"There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose"

Taken from the speaker's Twitter:

There's a possibility that he might be interested in bitAssets remittance services due to its price stability. He also blogs on The World Bank official website.

i just read https://www.techinasia.com/bitcoin-remittances-rebit-philippines/

biggest markets are

1. China
2. India
3. Philippines

we should leverage and help our Chinese community and make it possible to use bitUSD and bitCNY to send remittances via bitshares. With BTC38 with a off ramp for bitCNY - CNY it should be not out of reach.

Mexico is a close #4 in most years.

Actually remittance will not need bitassets at all, it can run purely on gateways end to end. It's basically what ripple was designed around. Of course if we manage to convince people that holding bitassets is as good as having cash under the pillow then bitasset transactions could eventually become as good as end to end fiat remittance.

That's the route we are positioning this for.

I'd be interested in promoting the remittance market down here in Colombia. Or set up an BitUSD Atm machine. How can I do this?

this niche is already taken by ripple
https://ripple.com/disruption-target-1-remittance/

Only for a while. The disadvantage of ripple is that you have to put the money up front in anticipation of transfer of other monies. XRP is holding value that isn't really useful for anything else. Ripple will drown itself and bitUSD and others can do it better.

remitabit is working with us to tackle this market.

And there's been some solid interest in BitUSD from other companies in this sector, according to the Community Marketing Team. As they understand BitUSD better, they'll realize how badly they need to use this. No doubt there's plenty of business for all of them, considering the insane rates that current remittances charge + how many different countries and regions can be involved. But I can't help thinking, the first payment system that integrates BitUSD and has a solid network will be able to leverage the strengths it has over Bitcoin. It's fast, cheap, and stable. They need us.
