I closed the client, properly, and it crashed.  After opening it again the funds once again show.  I never had any doubt they were there but this experience is very concerning.  The client crashes randomly all the time and even when I try to close it normally it still freezes and crashes.  I've been reading a lot about BTS lately and really see the potential.  It's just disappointing that the UI is so bulky and buggy.  I don't see the average person putting up with the client as is.  A light wallet cannot come fast enough.

Thanks for the advice, liondani.

The client crashed and when I loaded it up again my funds are once again not visible...Someone please help me figure out what's going on.  Here's a picture of my dashboard/transactions.

Edit: I guess the client is still synching.  Does it have to load everything every time you open the client?  If so that's really annoying given how much this thing crashes for me.  Can't wait for a lighter wallet.

when you manage to see your funds again trying with:

1. wallet_regenerate_keys <account_name> 10500
or
2. wallet_rescan_blockchain
or
3.      ./bitshares_client  --rebuild-index    (for the cli client)

then...
consider to copy/paste the "chain" folder to another folder on your computer and when you have the same problems just delete the actual "chain" folder and replace it with your backup "chain" folder... at least you will not need to wait for the download/resync_from_start each time you experience a crash ...

It could be that the client has to resync after it crashed (not properly closed).

Sorry to hear you've got  so much trouble with the client.

Maybe its worth to try the core client (the command line client).

It isn't that hard.

The client is now completely synched and still no balance showing.  I'm really new to all this, what am I doing wrong? What is going on? Someone help please?

I got my refund from shapeshift and bought a little BitBTC.  After the BitBTC was added then everything else showed up. It literally said 0.0 under Balances now it's .000994 BTC/87.6657 BTS/0.1 USD.  I have no idea what happened but it seems to be good now.  I'm just a little worried now about putting a real amount in because disappearing funds is not cool.
Maybe the network paid a yield?

upper right corner -> advanced -> tab "console"
type "history" and "balance" and check if your transaction appears there

Last night I decided to dive into BTS at the exact wrong time.  I used shapeshift to send BTC to BTS... but of course that didn't go through because of BTer.
So someone sent me 100 BTS.  I was just playing around to see how it works and bought .1 bitUSD with that.  Last night I held 87.6 BTS and .1 BitUSD.  I just got up and looked and now there's nothing.  I know it's pretty much nothing value-wise but I just want to understand what happened?

The transaction to me is in Block # 1796828
The transfer to .1 BitUSD is in Block # 1797890
