How do we at least get numbers 8 and 9 from my list accomplished?
You raise valid points. We need to reduce the barrier to understanding and clean up the information base.
Here's a detailed DNS related delegate proposal for building interop with the traditional system for #8... I don't think the delegates have been registered yet though.

EXCELLENT link, thank you! I just finished reading every word of it and dropped indolering a comment on there too, hopefully we can help out. The DNS thing is greatly needed for our ePlug project.

So, indolering and toast, those are the tow people most responsible now for the Bitshares DNS project?

there's no DNS project until 1.0 release to my understanding

edit: at least not from toast

toast was working on DNS (KeyID) project before the big bts merger.  He is working on other area now.  He may resume DNS work once bts 1.0 is out.

Then you should start looking into Eris. I REALLY like what they are doing.
Eris? URL?

https://erisindustries.com/

I got turned off Eris one I knew Preston Byrne was part of their team...

Preston was very emotionally vocal against BitShares at launch, without having made any effort to actually understand how BitAssets would work.

https://erisindustries.com/

along with https://decerver.io/ and https://thelonious.io/

Now those ARE much close to a DAC toolkit than BitShares will ever be.

I really like their stuff!

Do not use this post as information for making any important decisions. The only agreements I ever make are informal and non-binding. Take the same precautions as when dealing with a compromised account, scammer, sockpuppet, etc.

Heavy documentation and DNS development can only be done by a few people, and these people will be useful wherever they are employed.

I'd say that we emphasize documentation, but leave 1) the most skilled people to only sketch documentation, 2) the second most skilled people to type it up for non-skilled people in outline, and then 3) technical writers and marketers can take it from there (detailed wiki, articles, how-to, etc.)

From what I can tell, we err between the steps, in that the hard core coders underestimate how difficult it is for casual programmers to understand sketch statements, and casual programmers tend to underestimate how difficult it is for non-technical people to understand outlines.

Sorry I sound so whiny, but as I am a newb, especially getting more and more vested here, I need to know it all before I dump any large sums into this.

I can't help unless I fully understand everything myself (use of the client, use of the online wallet, how to auto-reinvest yield and dividends, how to buy into DAC's that haven't launched yet, accessing the Whitepaper (assuming it's up to date), explaining why/what/how on every aspect of Bitshares)...

1) I'd like to see us offer up DNS service (put a browser in the bts client, offer a chrome plugin, etc).
2) I'd like to do margin trading.
3) I'd like to see Bitshares and Bitassets as an option in all the different arbitrage bots.
4) I'd like a CURRENT step by step "dummies" document that shows me how/why to setup a DAC, or convert my existing companies/employees.
5) I'd like to see the Wiki become a constantly-updated eBook (a Bitshares 101 second edition)
6) I'd like to never see the terms protoshares or btsx again if those are no longer even things that I need to learn about.
7) It's imperative to have up to date documentation, esp when this community is growing and changing so rapidly.
8. I'd like to see a DESIGNATED Delegate whos' sole job is to get DNS going (.p2p, .dac, whatever). The DNS issue should NOT be a side-job or something at the end of the Bitshares todo list.
9) I'd like to see a DESIGNATED Delegate whos' sole job is to keep the wiki up to date.

Confusing people will never foster mass-adoption.

All valid points. Can take the list as a starting point for an "adoption to do list".

I removed/replaced btsx on the wiki where I could (keeping the full time job). I guess I've missed quite a few :)

The BitShares software is a work in progress. It is evolving rapidly and may leave some information here out of date.
That would probably be a challenge to keep the docs in order at this stage. Some of the work I've done a few weeks back needs to be edited again.

The docs have to be kept in order. I'd support a delegate focused on maintaining the docs.

I don't think there are any delegates that are supposed to keep the wiki up to date.
