Can't you use wallet_get_transaction RPC call? The memo *should* be encoded properly in the JSON result.

How to manually decode a memo on your account?
I have an 'interesting' memo which is part of a transaction we own, but I think the console output of the transaction is corrupting it, since it contains special characters.
How can I decode the memo on a transaction manually?
