Lawyers being automated will happen far sooner than managers, I agree, due to smart contracts.
Many lawyers are going to need to become programmer-lawyers, and we wont need as many of them.

I think managers will be first. Lawyers are a protected class by the government (a noble profession). Also managers/CEOs can cost so much money that it makes a lot of sense to replace them with software rather than pay tens of millions of dollars to a single person.

The average CEO salary is higher than the President of the United States and there is no way the job of any CEO is more challenging than the job of the President.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/kathryndill/2014/04/15/report-ceos-earn-331-times-as-much-as-average-workers-774-times-as-much-as-minimum-wage-earners/

It's pretty obvious that CEOs are over paid and I don't see why shareholders would continue to pay them so much if they can be replaced by software. I think with lawyers it's different because if your life is on the line in a murder trial you're not going to want to rely on a software lawyer are you? I think because of the protection that profession receives it's going to be one of the last professions to let software take over, along with judges.

Some of the findings from this year’s study include:

Cheniere Energy CEO Charif Souki was the highest paid at $141.9 million, making him the only CEO earning over $100 million on this year’s list.

Four of the ten highest paid were in the technology sector.

Of the 200 CEOs, 11 are women. The highest paid was Martine Rothblatt of United Therapeutics with $38.2 million in total pay.

The highest-paid sector was industrial goods with a median pay of $18.5 million among the 18 chief executives.

The highest-paid new CEO was Don Mattrick of Zynga, who received $57.8 million for taking over the top job at the online gaming company.

Any CEO making 57.8 million in salary, you really have to question whether or not shareholders are being coerced into paying them. This isn't to say a CEO could never have this kind of salary but you have to look at the ratio between CEO pay and the lowest paid employee and then you can see the scope of the problem.

I wonder if this virtual CEO metaphor could be applied to DACs? In theory you could create virtual assembly lines out of anonymous freelancers/contractors who work for BitUSD as the distributed virtual CEO.

Then you could have a pseudo anonymous distributed CEO which could function just like a real CEO. It could even be given a name, a face, all through the use of CGI. It could have an avatar which represents the entire community.

Amazon’s Mechanical Turk to curate a list of articles on the topic. After duplicates were removed, the list of articles was passed on to a pool of technical analysts from oDesk, who extracted and arranged the articles’ key insights. A cohort of Elance writers then turned these into coherent text, which went to another pool of subject matter experts for review, passing them on to a sequence of oDesk editors, proofreaders, and fact checkers.

We were amazed by the quality of the end result — and the speed with which it was produced. The research alone for such a paper would typically take several weeks to complete; with iCEO, the research only took three days. And while creating the full report through a traditional management-employee structure would probably require months to complete, iCEO did it in just weeks.

The iCEO or virtual CEO never sleeps, never gets sick, never gets tired, never suffers a lack of concentration or productivity, because decentralization allows the human beings doing the tasks to be swapped in and out as if an assembly line. This means the virtual CEO in theory should be able to operate 24/7 365.

This means the CEO tasks can now be outsourced. This means a DAC can have a virtual CEO if it needs to. It means that AI can augment the humans doing the outsourced tasks until AI is smart enough to do most or all of the tasks.

Fortune 500 executives spend a fair amount of time thinking about how automation and the Internet are changing the nature of employment, but they rarely wonder how technology will have an impact much closer to home: on their own jobs.
