My shorts expired yesterday but I can't access my computer until tomorrow.  What're the current rules on this?  Will the market automatically cover at feed?  Will I be hurt if I don't cover?

Market will cover at the feed. No fee or penalty. If you don't mind riding it out, you can just sit back and wait.

thats actually nice because people can profit from this ;)
I'm not sure thats a good thing.  This is a zero sum trad,e so if someone is profiting from the price differential, it means someone else is losing and possibly become disillusioned with trading on bitshares.

Couldn't one just re-short? And the potential for profit at this moment has nothing to do with previous trades.

True, that will probably happen.
