Using a different password on your new wallet is no problem  :)

Good to hear that your issues are resolved. Still sure to backup your old wallets!

for starters, I'm totally confused on the difference between BitsharesX and Bitshares PTS and Bitshares 2.0.  I see discussion of each in this forum, so naturally that's confusing.

http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares/History

I have a separate thread where I'm trying to figure out how to bounce from BitsharesX to Bitshares (the newer wallet).  But in this thread I'm specifically asking first how I can move my coins from Bitshares PTS to the new wallet which is just named PTS.  I was hoping it would be as simple as swapping the wallet.dat file, but confusingly, instead of a wallet.dat file in the new PTS client, there is a wallet folder inside of which there is no wallet.dat file.

If anyone also can help me migrate from BitsharesX to Bitshares, that would be dandy too

Just download the latest Bitshares client and install it in place of the old BitSharesX client. BitShares is just a rebrand of BitsharesX, not an actual new chain.

Thanks so much.  Quick question though regarding installing Bitshares in place of BitsharesX.  There's an "include" folder with it.  Do I drag the Bithsares Application + the "Include" folder into the Applications folder?  And then I'm assuming (If my coins are showing up in the new wallet) at that point I could delete BitsharesX?  Thanks again

You can safely ignore the 'include' folder. And yes once BitShares runs successfully just delete BitSharesX.

Success with both of them!  Just a note though, I used a different password when starting the new PTS Wallet.  Although when importing my old keys I obviously had to use my old password which worked fine.  I'm assuming everything is dandy now, correct?  I shouldn't have any problems concerning the fact that I goofed when using a new password for the new wallet?  I didn't see any place to change the password.

Thanks a lot.  Hopefully it appears I'm up and running
