trouble syncing blockchain on mac

If you import your 0.8.0 wallet into 0.9.3c .. do you see all your funds already? If so, you don't need to sync the blockchain and can go to the next step and export your wallet for BitShares 2.0 already.

I set up an account in 0.8.0 last spring
I am trying to set up 0.9.3c to move my BTS into so that I can
then move on to 2.0.
Blockchain would not sync in 0.9.3c (started running in reverse !)
Have downloaded blockchain from mega but do not
know how to import (?) it into 0.9.3c.
I am using osx 10.10.2
