As long as you hold the private key you are good. I used multibit once but I remember you could save your private key.

I guess the BitsharesX client will also be able to check multibit wallets to make it easier for the users.

We will probably create a bounty for this.

I too used multi-bit wallet, but I was under the impression that that wallet was one under my control. Who else controls it?

But I don't have to save it every time after making a AGS donation? The private key doesn't change right? It is only to claim AGS when bitshares are released right? So I just have to save the wallet.dat file?
correct.

Try this:

In Multibit export private keys (no password)
Open the file, and copy the private key (just the key)

If you want to move your wallet to Bitcoin qt you can
importprivkey "your key".

Thank you for your advice.  It works...  :)

I just noticed there is a statement in the new AGS webpage -
"You must send all donations from a wallet where you control the Private Key such as Bitcoin-Qt"

I donated some BTC from my MultiBit wallet, will I be able to claim my AGS?  Thanks.
