I can get you GPU servers for much cheaper

SuperMicro 1U Server
Single Intel Xeon Hex Core SandyBridge E5-2620 (6/12HT Cores @ 2.00GHz)
Intel Xeon Phi 7120P Coprocessor /w 16GB GDDR5 Memory & 61 Cores
64GB DDR3 Quad Channel Registered Memory for Dual CPU (Max 384GB)
2x 240GB Intel Series 520 Gen2 SSD
Maximum of 6 HDD's
Hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 /w 1GB Cache & BBU
1Gbps Public Network Port (Dedicated)
Optional 1Gbps Private Network Port (Unmetered)
20,000GB/mo Public Bandwidth
5 Public IP Address via Secure VLAN (/29)
Remote Access IPMI Card (KVM, Reboot & Virtual Media)

SuperMicro 1U Server
Single Intel Xeon Hex Core SandyBridge E5-2620 (6/12HT Cores @ 2.00GHz)
Nvidia Tesla K20 GPU /w 5GB GDDR5 Memory & 2496 Cores
64GB DDR3 Quad Channel Registered Memory for Dual CPU (Max 384GB)
2x 240GB Intel Series 520 Gen2 SSD
Maximum of 6 HDD's
Hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 /w 1GB Cache & BBU
1Gbps Public Network Port (Dedicated)
Optional 1Gbps Private Network Port (Unmetered)
20,000GB/mo Public Bandwidth
5 Public IP Address via Secure VLAN (/29)
Remote Access IPMI Card (KVM, Reboot & Virtual Media)

there is lots of room to customize (ie making it cheaper by not requiring a dedicated 1gbps port)

Are you renting them out? If so, PM me your pricing.

It's  hard to give any prices since you'd likely want it customized quite a bit?  Or would you want the dedicated 1gbps port?  That adds some bit to the price...

Going for 100mbps and 5/5TB bandwidth or something would be much cheaper..

You can also fit a lot more GPUs in there =p

I will get exact server models, but some reference:

I don't think the output can cover your bill, given the current price, diff and block value.

Its not profitable anymore but if you are lucky and rent them for cheap then it might be. I would usually use them to mine new coins that come out that have low diff. Then when they are worth something just exchange them for btc then to PTS if your planning to hold PTS.

I've tried running a GPU miner on amazon EC2 instances, I spent weeks trying to figure it out but with no luck.

The problem is that when you install the drivers, developer tooks for cuda...etc the miner doesn't seem to find the GPUs.

Try setting it up on windows I heard that you use VNC instead of remote desktop it works but didn't try it as I got blocked by amazon. They were asking for verification documents and wasn't using their services anymore.

My answer to #2:

After downloading your private key, it's now time to connect to your server! You need to download PuTTY and PuTTYGen. Links are at the bottom of this post. Open up PuTTYGen. Now, click "Load." Open up your key.pem. Now, click "Save private key." Click "Yes" and chose where you want to save it. Make sure it's the EXACT same name as the key you got from Amazon. Now, open PuTTY. Enter ubuntu@{server's public DNS}. The public DNS can be found in your control panel by clicking on the GPU instance. Then go to SSH, expand it and click Auth. Browse for the key you made in PuTTYGen. Then, click open. You may have to do this a few times. You'll know when it connects when a dialog box appears. It should say "SECURITY BREACH!" but it's not. Click yes. Then, follow the next step!

Mining Protoshares on EC2 GPU Instances - Question
« Reply #1 on: February 05, 2014, 06:38:02 pm »
Hey guys. I've been mining PTS for a while now. But, I wanted to try something new. I want to know - step-by-step - how to get an Amazon EC2 GPU Instance running a PTS Miner. I don't want this to benefit myself only. I want the entire community to know how to do this. So, if anyone knows how, let's get started. We'll start at the instance type to choose, and go from there! Make sure you post it as a post below, and I'll give you full credit. Thanks to all wanting to help out. Below are the steps we need to know.

#1 - What GPU instance should we choose? - NOT TAKEN
#1 NOTE: The instance will have Ubuntu installed on it.
#2 - How do you SSH into the Instance? - TAKEN by goosoodude https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2764.msg34476#msg34476
#3 - How do we install the Nvidia Graphics Drivers? - NOT TAKEN
#3.1 - How do we install the necessary components for the miner we will be using? - NOT TAKEN
#4 - Which miner do we download? Also, how do we download it? - NOT TAKEN
#5 - How do we compile the miner? - NOT TAKEN
#6 - How do we get mining? (Pool, GPU selection, other settings) - NOT TAKEN

That should be it. When you post, I'll edit this post with the correct username, and link to that post. Anything with "NOT TAKEN" is up for grabs. Anything with "TAKEN" has already been explained correctly. If not working, we will figure it out!

Thanks again,
- Goo
