BitShares-Charity.org - A Delegate for Charity [UPDATE]
« on: May 13, 2014, 08:56:26 AM »

Introduction:
Hey friends,

BitShares-Charity is a not-for-profit project and 100% of all profits go
directly to helping people in need. We operate several DPOS delegates to secure
the BitShares ecosystem.
Read more: http://bitshares-charity.org

Let me quickly introduce the Charity-Delegates:
delegate.xeroc
a.delegate.xeroc
b.delegate.xeroc

Find out more: http://charity-delegates.org

Transparency:
... is the second most import issue we are working on besides doing some good with the earned funds.
Hence everything (except the private keys of the delegates) are public.

Current Status:
- The delegates have earned:
Code: [Select]
donations.charity  BTSX 10.00
payouts.charity    BTSX 1,568.61 STAR 20.00 USD 488.89
- I am sending out a letter (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5TI75KT07zRb3RUb05ZSVFoN1E/edit?usp=sharing) to
seansoutput, FSF, and amani-kinderdorf to figure out if they are willing to
  participate (i.e., get some donations)

1 yes
2 yes. You might need to post a bond to become a delegate but it should not be prohibitive
3 it doesn't really make a difference
4 nothing
5 just register a delegate I'd via the client and get people to vote for it. Once you get enough stake you will start generating blocks.
6 yes!
7 oh gosh, who knows...

Do not use this post as information for making any important decisions. The only agreements I ever make are informal and non-binding. Take the same precautions as when dealing with a compromised account, scammer, sockpuppet, etc.

How much does a delegate earn? Would be interesting with some assumption laden approximations.

Up to about the equivalent of  3000 pre snap PTS... but you can run more than one I like the #17, so lets start with 17 and see what happens

Lack of arbitrage is the problem, isn't it. And this 'should' solves it.

Is there anyone willing to join/participate and help coding/designing? I already have a domain for that cause and started working on a webpage/bootstrap

This is the first time that I see this thread. I am thrilled with idea.  +5%
I also have some work in progress at the moment. Busy with master thesis and some electronics projects. After I finish those things I am willing to participate and give my contribution.

[Update]
I started writing a webpage. You can find the current work at: http://bitshares-charity.org/
I also ordered two domains:
+ bitshares-charity.org
+ charity-delegate.org

I could need some backup:
+ a nice graphic for the first page as a background for the carousel
+ probably need some more content / text
+ feedback about how much information I/we should write on the page (also for legal reason, but considering to become trustworthy)
+ proof-reading
+ more organizations that for now accept bitcoin and can be considered charitable
+ some tech savvy friends that can come up with an idea/script on how to spend fee income .. probably in combination with voting on the blockchain or proportional donations
+ also need some assistance when trading BTS/XTS <-> bitcoin on exchanges using a script so that I can donate in bitcoin
