is there a way to sign up and help with edits on the wiki?

i'm finally getting around to giving it an in depth look and I am seeing a few minor grammatical errors. I have also noticed that the BitShares blog hyperlink on the lefthand menu goes to the bitshares.org home page, rather than the blog page.

if there's a way for regular users to make edits i would love to help   :D

Absolutely!  Toast has a very active Skype group for that.   PM us your Skype name and we'll add you to the group.

Thanks for offering!

sweet. Gamey had actually invited me to the skype chat a couple of weeks ago but it completely slipped my mind, so thanks for the reminder!

I was told by someone whose opinion I value highly that reddit has it so that if a post gets several upvotes in the first 10 minutes or less, then those votes are weighted much higher than upvotes that trickle in later.  So if we want to start seeing stuff posted on reddit, it would be to our benefit to somehow time the upvotes to be around a certain time.

Apparently some guys got banned over this after a warning, but they were really trying to game the system.  Some starcraft thing.

yeah good point. i think as long as we keep our posts and upvotes genuine we have nothing to worry about as far as that goes. upvotes on BitShares links in general tend to trickle in slowly

one suggestion: would you mind updating the OP with a list of relevant reddit posts when you have a chance? that thread in the original post is practically ancient as far as reddit is concerned  :D

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2ad0j7/if_bitcoin_can_replace_the_federal_reserve_why/

haven't replied yet, tbh im not versed enough in economics/finance to make a compelling argument. anyone else wanna give it a shot?

Ethereum changes rapidly, until their funding process begins, or they go into alpha/beta stage, we shouldn't really compare, unless done as a speculative draft separately.

One other thought bytemaster pointed out is whether or not Ethereum should be added to the table....but then again, they're still a work in progress...

Thank you to whoever worked to get this whole wiki up and running. I spent some time yesterday adding info for Ripple, where missing, and editing for "look and feel".  I ran it by bytemaster and he also had me make some changes.  If any of the facts for ripple are incorrect, let me know, as I did the best I could to find accurate data.  AWESOME job once again. This is going to be a powerful tool to use.

someone just posted this in that reddit thread:

"Since I can't find it anywhere using google, what would the fundamental problems be for Bitshare? Like what would stop it from gaining mass adoption or any serious flaws it may have? (like the 51% attack for bitcoin)

If you have links or articles explaining any problems with it's system please share. I'm considering donating, it sounds like a promising idea."

anyone care to field that one, and maybe give the link some upvotes? the cryptocurrency subreddit (which is where this is posted) is a great place to find people looking for new cryptos, so it would be cool if it got a few more votes/posts to bump the thread back up to relevancy

Upvote this.  I am not sure if it will stick around.

Seems like we're seeing an uptick in AGS donations.  I'm glad to see more people involved with AGS.  Lets keep it up.

 +5% Awesome!

Is there a max price in XTS for a BitShares X transaction?

For me the price of the product is the thing laymen often look at first when making an initial comparison, so to say variable and then link to trying to explain burn rate...

I think it would be better to have < '*' XTS  - With Star being replaced by whatever a maximum transaction would cost, (Then the link can explain it would likely be much lower.)

Perhaps I need to resize this.  This is a screenshot of the grid originally created by Clout on the Wiki.

As far as angles to make Bitshares posts Bitcoin relevent I've heard 2 suggestions.

"AGS taking donations in Bitcoin" is a good approach to get posts into the Bitcoin community.

The other option for the Bitcoin post is to point out the proposal to give 15% of p2p to BTC holders.

Any more suggestions like the 2 above would be appreciated.

I think I'll start up a post with #1 on reddit.

As far as targeting Bitcoin vs altcoin people, I find altcoin people a lot more open.  I'm not sure if they're more valued though.  It would be nice to make inroads with BTC people. They seem to have more money and resources in general.  They just need to understand the innovation.  They've accepted BTC, they need to accept the next step.  :)

Yeah I think on Reddit targeting Bitcoin people is good. I just think on the Bitcoin forum the main Bitcoin Discussion section is clearly about Bitcoin specific stuff.

If you make a post to reddit, link to it here if you can, I don't go on there a lot myself.

Maybe mention that BTSX is trading on Bter & BTC38?

One guy complained and they yanked the thread.  I thought it actually fits better in the first.  It is related to Bitcoin ecosystem.  It is innovative.  It is not a "crypto currency" but this is 2nd attempt.

How about if the headline was "Bitshares acceping bitcoin for AGS donations"?

Personally I think it's wose PR if we try to put BitShares articles in the main Bicoin discussion thread, even though Bitshares isn't an alternative crypto-currency that's the best place to put on their forum imo.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0

In the last week we've  had a few good threads that are platforms for BitShares education consistently staying on  the top two pages (top 100 topics) in that section, including this one,  so I think we're doing an effective job on BTT now and interest is improving, just need to keep it up.

Plus a couple of other small topics started by people I don't recognise from BitShares.

Now for Reddit  :D

(I'm Fandangledgizmo on BTT & EmpireofLiberty of Reddit BTW - Only just started using Reddit, so don't know much about how it works though.)

There has been a lot of effort.  The Chinese guys are translating it now.  It isn't easy to do when we're changing the Wiki on our end.  The Chinese Bitshares community will hopefully have increased understanding of the changes that have been going on.

Just had a chance to check out the Wiki properly really impressed! + There will be a Chinese translation, wow. So much great content there good job guys!!!

I suspect they'll move your post on the Bitcoin forum. It's been placed in the main Bitcoin discussion forum, when it should probably be in the alternate section.

Yes. But in the meantime it gets top of the forum visibility.

 +5% Cool stuff  :D

Wiki-BitShares is great.

The Why Choose BitShares as well as the 'Comparison of BitShares and Other Platforms' is really awesome.

I would maybe wait a bit and also do a separate reddit post on just that 'Why Choose BitShares' or comparison chart link.

Some of us have been pushing for more internet marketing - specifically forums and Reddit.  Partially as a result of this, wiki.bitshares.org has been created and we're trying to push it to help educate about Bitshares.  We are also trying to counter future arguments that Bitshares did not publicize AGS and thus it is an unfair insider type deal.

The 2 main threads right now.

http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/29xm2j/announcing_bitshares_wiki_to_answer_all_your/
  can use your up votes.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=678882.new#new  The effectiveness of "bumping" works a lot better if we spread it out.  Since I just recently posted this thread, perhaps wait some time before bumping it.

The FriendsOfBitshares network salutes you.  :-*

P.S. The Wiki is still a work in progress.  It was put together by a few people working together part time.  It can not be all things for all people, but we're proud.
