can our sub accounts have increased pay rate compared with th initial account (example liondani 5% pay rate,  but   delegate1.liondani pay rate 33% ?)

Yes, they are fully independent except for the fact that the master account key can change all child accounts.

That is the same as starting a new delegate.

Yes but we keep our precious "Brand name" !!!

Unfortunately it is very difficult to adjust your votes because it is just the total of a whole bunch of individual votes.

You can keep your brand-name, by using sub-accounts      ie:   delegate1.liondani       Only liondani can create sub-accounts under *.liondani

I appreciate the thought delegates, but until we see what the income level is and whether it is enough to cover a VPS at $30 per month you may want to be conservative as you can decrease your pay in the future, but not increase it.

Put another way, if delegates can operate on just 5% of the fees, then our transaction fees are 20x higher than necessary and our customers are the ones who pay that price.

So consider carefully who you want to appeal to:  customers or shareholders and strike a balance.   It is possible for delegates to reduce the required transaction fee.   I wouldn't reduce it at this point in time because of SPAM control, but you get the overall idea.

Why can't it be increased?  To prevent people from lowering it briefly?

Yes, it is kind of a campaign promise that is enforced.  Those who vote for you know for sure that they can set it and not have to trust you on that part of it.

Currently at 5% I would need to produce 13 blocks/hr to cover my costs.

Since the transaction fees are likely to go up as is the volume increases and the value of each BTSX should rise as shares are burned and more people come on board my situation should only improve.  My operating costs should stay fairly static so I am OK with this burn rate.  I guess the shareholders can vote for me or not depending on the balance they want to strike between customer and shareholder costs/profits :).

What about my proposal above? To just use proof of stake but only limit to delegates. That way all delegates get to represent exactly the % of votes they got.

I.e. Don't pick a number like 100. Just do age burn of their voted power.

What about to let us the option to increase the pay rate whenever we  want but automatically loose all upvotes if we do that? (of course when decreasing nothing should happen like now)

Good point about cost to customers, however we don't control the fees, at this point, do we?

I have a question - why couldn't you do regular POS where instead of balance you use the number of votes? And thus remove this bizarre 100 delegates number. Let the shareholders decide how many delegats they want.

i.e. traditional POS with balance age, resetting to 0 when they sign a transaction. But instead of balance, use vote balance.

Done by voting - should improve the rating of some "low cost delegates".

Thank you, CalabiYau!

I really can't believe that most delegates are 100% Payouts. Is there really not a single whale who wants to help the ecosystem by increasing the burn? Or is it that whales are better off keeping the profits to themselves?

Offline CalabiYau

Once you approve a delegate, it doesn't really cast the vote, until you make a transaction. You could send a transaction to yourself.

I intend to write tools for delegates. But for that I want to become one so I can experiment.

 +5%
you have my vote!

PS I like the way you think in general
You convinced me to reduce my pay rate also to  +5%     ;)

Thank you! I've revoted for all of you with the 150K I just added as well. Yeah make sure to send all your balance to yourself so it gets reflected in the transaction.

Let me post an example (I'll add it to the main post too):

I am  +5% convinced
Code: [Select]
calyauwall (unlocked) >>> wallet_approve_delegate kpd-1
Delegate approved.
calyauwall (unlocked) >>> wallet_approve_delegate dele-puppy
Delegate approved.

Once you approve a delegate, it doesn't really cast the vote, until you make a transaction. You could send a transaction to yourself.

Also if you only send 1 BTSX, then only 1 BTSX is counted as a vote. You basically need to send ALL your balance to yourself after casting the vote.

They should have made this easier for voters, but oh well.

Offline CalabiYau

Let's diversify a bit and set the tone here, if there is burn of the fees, it will increase the value of BTSX. Shareholders should welcome that.

I've set mine to +5%. Which means 95% of the fees will be income for shareholders! Thank you!

Please vote for kpd-1.

Also if you are 50% or less delegate, post yours here.

Code: [Select]

wallet_approve_delegate kpd-1

After you make your vote selections make sure you send your entire balance to yourself, otherwise you are not really voting.

I am  +5% convinced
Code: [Select]
calyauwall (unlocked) >>> wallet_approve_delegate kpd-1
Delegate approved.
calyauwall (unlocked) >>> wallet_approve_delegate dele-puppy
Delegate approved.

And delegate ninja is charging how much?
Sorry, could not find the info from the ‘voter friendly environment’ provided.

Init delegates are keeping 100% of the fees was done with the thought that it would encourage people to vote for others.    That and the fees earned by these delegates would help cover development costs and be entirely re-invested.

Thanks everyone for the votes.  I have reciprocated with my very small stake.  If nothing else I am very pleased to see a discussion on delegate burn rate.

I am concerned with the current delegate state, and I am not sure if it will get better or worse as the network grows.  We are the early adopters, and we have chosen to elect what to the best of my knowledge is at most 23 individuals to secure the network while keeping 98% of the fees.  I know it's still very early, but at this point this seems like the same old same old, rich get richer, funnel the money to my buddy game.

not exactly re-registering because I did not get charged 8 XTS for the delegate registration fee. but did get charged 0.1 XTS for transaction itself.

Offline Riverhead

Noob question - how do I change my %?  I'll go down to 5%.  I'm really more interested in supporting the network and seeing where this goes than making money off it.

Go to your account - click Edit.

Then select Delegate, and adjust the %. If you are already registered you should not be charged a fee for delegate registration, but you will still be charged a small transaction fee for the change.

I think you can only go down in % not up for a delegate.

So you're effectively re-registering?  I'm using a CLI on the delegate server via ssh:

UPDATE: This worked!  Now 5% :D

I'm thinking:
Code: [Select]
wallet_account_update_registration riverheaddelserv1 riverheaddelserv1 null 5

You know how did I not think of it before...

The secret sauce is ... wait for it ...  +5%  :D

I'm changing mine to 5%. I think this is it. Running a digital signature tool 24/7 is not a rocket science.

I'm also going to task another server to be a seed.  I'll put the seed address in my sig when complete.

Voted. Also noticed that unless you do a transaction after your voting, it won't really propagate the votes. Is that the case?

I sent 1 XTS to someone, then the transaction included all my vote selections as well.

Yes the action of voting is performed when you make a transaction and it is proportional to the amount of transaction.

So if you send all your balance between your accounts, then THAT is the amount that's being voted?

Yes, You can also send to same account:
Code: [Select]
wallet_transfer 100000 BTSX kpd-1 kpd-1
and then you can check with the command:
Code: [Select]
wallet_account_vote_summary the votes to delegates

Let's diversify a bit and set the tone here, if there is burn of the fees, it will increase the value of BTSX. Shareholders should welcome that.

I've set mine to 50%. Thank you!

Dele-puppy is set at a 10% rake.   For that 10%  I will help secure the network with my delegate as well as run another full node as a seed node 95.85.33.16:8764.  That is all I intend to do with these fees.   The remaining 90% will be destroyed as a dividend for all share holders.   I do not believe I have a better way of spending those funds than you do.
