I think @bytemaster may pack the openssl dll with the install file. maybe it can slove the problem.

Great :) Thanks again for your help! I will vote for you.

seems many guys have the same error messages, I google it, seems openssl cause the problem,  http://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html

Hi Empirical1, try install the openssl 1.0.1h binaeries from the website, see if it help.

I tried. Now it says

Initializing genesis state from built-in genesis file
Please be patient, this could take a few minutes.
Successfully re-indexed 0 blocks in 0 seconds.

Not starting RPC server use --server to enable the RPC interface
Attempting to map P2P port 1776 with UPNP...
UPnp: ExternalIPAddress: 86....(gives IP address)
Listening for P2P connections on port 1776
Attemption to connect to peer 178... (gives IP address)

It attempts to connect to about 11 peers then says

==============

bitsharesX gui crashes after splash saying program stopped working, client gives error above, seems related to suggested github fix.

Please get a compiled version ASAP, 10 + months of "2 more weeks" and now this... extremely frustrating.

my wallet windows also crashes and if i manage to access my wallet after I restart my pc i get a message of "severe network connections. not connected". I cannot see any transcations etc...

Whenever a new version for windows is available can we have a sticky post?

Are the names I have registered safe? I assume that whenever a newer version is out, I will put my wallet password and everything will be fine? Should I back up anything?

Thanks

here windows 7 64 bit everything is fine. maybe something you installed. i set up a windows machine exlusive for crypto with nothing extra installed.

Thanks, I've got hold of a netbook with windows 8 and the wallet is working, so I'll use that for now.

Same issue with me here for windows.  I am so anxious to try this out but like empirical1 I can only point and click when it comes to computers. On  side note, whenever this issue gets solved, could someone link the thread where it tells how to recieve your shares if you held shares via the pts 28th snapshot, that would be appreciated.

maybe you can try the command line version, bitshares_client.exe,  locates on same dir as BitSharesX.exe.
see if it is ok?

Tried that too but it still doesn't work. :(

What is the nature of the latest crash?

This is probably not the answer your asking for but when you try open it, the splash/main screen appears up for a few seconds then crashes/says it has stopped working.

Wish we were able to reproduce it here... are there any logs in your app data dir?

Sorry not sure what that means.

In my app data folder - BitShares X - Logs - The default log has a whole bunch of stuff written on it when I click.

@ Laow - The BitShare_Client_Exe also does the same thing when I click, starts doing it thing for a few seconds then disappears.

Are only a few people having this problem on windows? Hopefully someone better with computers can communicate the problem, I can literally only point & click when it comes to computers...

(Edit: the other logs are empty except p2p log which says '20140724T155051.931966       th_a                 open ] loading pending trx...         chain_database.cpp:1454' on the text file.)

Binaries / GUI will probably be released after feedback from the delegates.

guess what...just downloaded the 2.2  version.....and........still crashed.....groan

Yeah me too, that was disappointing.

The first time it was saying the problem name was 'BEX' now it's saying APPCRASH.

Same here on my home computer. Works fine on a VPS though.

hopefully they implement this fix into the client soon...it's quite annoying not being able to access one's own funds (especially after months and months of waiting)

People smarter than me are already working on this.  In the mean time, have you tried these 4 things?

1.  Right click and run as administrator.

2.  Turn off anti virus.

3.  Create a new user account, and attempt to install/run it in that.

4.  Boot into safe mode with networking and attempt to run it.
