Hi friends, I'm having the same problem as OP..have some BTSX in bter that I cannot import to my wallet without registration. Is the "account key" the public key?

It is .. the account name can be registered to point to your public key .. that registration costs fee

The whole process is a mystery to me. I have been trying to register for a week or more.. Is there a thread here that gives a complete explanation of how it works ?

bm, just downloaded 0.4.7 and did a clean install.  looking good so far.

would love to help you guys, but we are having problems of our own in syncing the wallet.  the client keeps crashing in windows.  and syncing gets stuck.

Even if you clear the chain folder and configure the chain server?   It is curious how it works *EVERY TIME* for me but fails *EVERY TIME* for others...

M problem got fixed. I sent Bter a ticket.

They responded and said all they want on the address line is your registration name.

Once I did that it worked.

I have the same problem.  I registered my account a few hours ago but I can't withdraw bitshares from BTER.  I get the error that the account isn't registered or the memo is too long.  I'm not using a memo.
