That might not be good for privacy...
hm .. your account name is registered in the blockchain .. in clear text ..

The only issue I see is that robohash is a thirdparty .. they could just shut down or change the api or change the code or the graphics ..

but BM has a plan for that already! .. AFAIR they have sth. much more fancy in mind .. but don't ask me about th progress ..

if you feel constructive .. build sth and propose it to BM ..

Would a random collage of known things/places look more professional?  Where each picture suggests a "story" ?

You have 16 background images.   Pyramids, Alamo, Statue of Liberty, etc...   Then One person on the right, one on the left etc.

Each picture would tell a story and be very memorable.  However it wouldn't necessarily look more business like, just not having animated creatures (usually).

The human brain is hard wired to remember faces.  It is best that we use that to our advantage.

BTW you can fork the robohash code and pimp the 'robots' to look more professional ..

 +5%

security wise it's great but the initial avatars should change somehow as xeroc mentioned too

They are a visual hash designed to help users identify typos.

User selection is no go. Version 1 had that and we had porn on day one.

New styles are planned.  For now they are an essential feature equal to checksums.

Make avatars more business-like or get rid of them altogether.

I upgraded to the latest client.

First let me say this is a great product/innovation.

However I am not sure the robohash icons are going to send the right message to serious users. It makes the product feel silly in my opinion. How do I get rid of these annoying icons in the latest release next to my account names?

Thanks in advance

 +5% make sense

it would be great the user can pick manual his avatar like on forums for each account...
