I've noticed for nearly everyone who has had an issue is not using the debian 7.0 x64 OS. Please use that as it is the OS this guide was designed for and it could help reduce your problems.

thank you for a quick response. Root is my username from Digital ocean but should enter through another user or not work in the root directory? It looks like the ptsminer is in the directory but I have no idea if its compiled...  Does it look compiled below or or am I missing some steps? I've entered the command for github ptsminer from the first page of this forum and the protoshares mining guide web page. Whats below is everything in my directory. When I attempt to compile the miner again I get an error "directory already exists"?

First time post trying to get the miner up and running. I'm running into a problem on the last command to connect my wallet to the pool. Here is what I'm encountering:

1) you shouldn't be using root

2) you dont need to change to a directory you're already in

3) you wouldn't use < > for this, it'd be ' '  , but it isnt necessary here anyway

4) ptsminer doesn't exist in /ptsminer/src, either because you never compiled it or because it has a different filename.  i have no clue.  use ls -latr

it's not, unless you think the value of PTS will increase.. but then you'd be better off just buying PTS, instead of continuing to operate this while unprofitable

Sorry, I meant I got Debian Wheezy 7.1 Server 64-bit running on that machine.

The latest version of ptsminer doesn't compile anymore.

It gives me the following error:

I'm on Ubuntu LTS.

Please switch to Debian 7.0 x64.
