I can connect from scratch and rescan in 10 minutes on a MacBook Pro.

From a clean configuration? i.e. without modifying what came from dacsunlimited

Yes.  Clean config syncs at 600 blocks per second.   Rescan command after fully synced takes about 5 to 10 minutes with 5 accounts in wallet

Rescanning is painful. On my i5 laptop with 6GB of ram it takes about an hour. On my Core2Duo Thinkpad it takes about 5 hours. The client and computer will seem idle but it is chewing away.

Is that the same as executing "rescan" from an already sync'd wallet? Just curious, what are the specs of your Apple PC?

Okay, ever since I tried to rescan the blockchain, I have had to close and reopen the client several times, however, the client is only getting anywhere from 3% to 18% before losing connection.  It does not seem I'll be able to rescan the entire transaction history.  Wondering how long this usually takes and if others run into the same issue.

What can I do to fix this?
