Bter is really smooth to use. I like it. I've also heard good things about BTC38, which now has an English site. Both of them have strong BTSX markets.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your vote of confidence.

I hope I can live up to the examples I've seen set here on the forum. I haven't seen much negativism and most are quite enthusiastic. So far my experience with this community has been great, hopefully I'll find a way to give back in due course.

Thank you so much OUAT (your username is a bit long :) for the 2nd BTC, I've already got it in the wallet, so everything checks out. I'm hoping by this time tomorrow I'll be a BTSX shareholder!

 +5%

you can buy BTSx on bter.com for example ..just let us know if you have more questions about…

Welcome Thom

Why not asking for BTSX (BitSharesX) instead of BTC? :) just curious

Very glad you're getting involved, Thom.

I see. OK, so this is a dust test then. It will serve to gauge a maximal propagation scenario.

Thanks for your help! You deserve a tip. And that brings to mind a question I've had awhile.

Are the tips around here real, in the form of cryptocurrency / cryptoshares, or is it a matter of attribution (attaboys) for just being generally helpful?

I like your initiative, and I think you aare going to make an excellent addition to our BitShares community, So I have just sent you a larger BTC spend to the same address. You should see the first confirmation in 10 minutes or so (hey, it's noy bitshares, or you would see it in 10 seconds or less  :) ).

No need to tip me. Just stay active in our community.

Thanks!  :)

It's been 15 minutes but I haven't seen it yet. I know Electrum uses centralized servers to access the blockchain rather than directly as with most other clients. This is one reason for the test, to see how much time it takes to propagate into my wallet.

The default (auto server select) was electrum.thwg.org. I switched it to use electrum.cryptopush.com and it took a few minutes to "sync", but still nothing.  I'm wondering if this is normal.

No confirmations yet. Will probably take a long time because it is "dust" (as per your request). If you want me to send you a larger amount so that it confirms quickly, you'll have to figure out how you are going to pay me back  :)

I have installed Electrum 1.9.8 and before I buy any bitcoins I want to make sure my client and address are fully operational.

Is someone willing to send me a bare minimum amount of BTC to 1FhkptEMU23KSaNrCjpJpumY5e3izqAwyB ?

I hope to be able to repay the sender with whatever he sends plus a small tip to express my gratitude, once I can make a BTC purchase which will be in process soon.

I could find a faucet, provide my email, register etc, but prefer to avoid that hassle not to mention the spam that would likely result. I can setup a new email account on my hosting service but that too is just another hassle and takes time. I thought if someone were willing to send me a bare minimum amount of BTC it would be faster.

I haven't done any transactions with BTC, so I don't know what king of real world money we're talking about in terms of fees to send 5, 10, 20 or so satoshi to a bitcoin address. Obviously if the cost is significant I wouldn't expect anyone to answer this request without some form of compensation.

I don't want anyone to send more BTC than I can get from a faucet, just to put a limit on this. If the deal I've got in the works falls through I can always repay whoever may respond to this request from proceeds I will get from a faucet.

Thanks for your consideration.
