Also, that wiki link on "The Great Consolidation of late 2014" could simply reference the Halloween Newsletter from October 2014, with perhaps a few paragraphs stolen from Part 8 and 9 of The Origin of BitShares referenced above...

Maybe somebody can go to this thread and harvest my ten-part series on the Origin of BitShares.  Should be good for Newbies or folks who have been gone for a while...

The Origin of BitShares

Seems like these could be posted three places:

The Newbie Thread here on the forum
The Wiki
Bytemaster's Blog

A good start would be to go through every page on the wiki and ctrl-h bitsharesx for bitshares. I found that really confusing when I started learning about bitshares.

Also, there are pages missing like "The Great Consolidation of late 2014" which I assume is about the merger which I have heard mentioned many times and sounds like a very controversial time, but I still don't have any idea of what it was all about, yet I want to know.

It seems like the "Securing Funds" page is an important one that shouldn't be missing.

Cold Storage page doesn't mention paper wallets - and for that matter surely it can't be that hard to make a bitsharesaddress.org. You wouldn't even need a cold storage wiki page.

Downloading the whitepaper requires an email address, and as dissapointed as I was by that I gave it up and still never got the white paper till I found it with googles help.

I could go on and on but don't want to seem like a dick, as it's not like I have the knowledge to fix any of these issues.

Hi,

I could start doing some updating (may be editing) wiki pages.

The least I could do is to start changing BTSX to BTS where appropriate.

like in http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares/Howto

Quote
You will need 2 things to become involved with Bitshares X. Some BTSX which is your stake in BitShares X and a wallet to hold the BTSX.

Edit: On the second reading of the mentioned page, looks like BTSX is tied up to the graphics. So, I might leave it as it is for now.

Still, I would like to be able to edit wiki pages.

One spot that really needs addition is talk about the market in bitshares X.  It will be changed around in the next monthish, so doing too much work on specific GUI features might not be the best use of effort.

Discussion of general market mechanics is definitely needed.

  • Post here if you see anything that is out of date on the wiki at wiki.bitshares.org.  If you wish edit access, request it from me and it will likely be granted.
  • Post here if you see anything out of date on bitshares.org (although not many people can modify bitshares.org feel free to request.)
  • Post requests for additional non-existent info on either wiki.bitshares.org or bitshares.org.
