It stays in status "Not connected" indefinitely. Really don't know what to do so I can connect, everything seemed right when compiling the binary... It's running on Kubuntu 14.04. Please help.

You should compile 0.4.17 and not 0.4.14: https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases

He means the version of Kubuntu not the version of the client testz :)

I'm not sure that he make mistake and in message written "Kubuntu 14.04", at subject "version 0.4.14".

Sorry, my mistake

it's a gui bug ... get to console and type "blockchain_is_synced" or "getinfo" .. will show you that you certainly are already connected and synced

Thanks for helping me out, now it seems that I'm running newest version which is synchronized but still there's "not connected" down there - doesn't matter but it would be kind of good that it is fixed soon.

No, it's not the case here, I'm not synced but I'm compiling the newer version right now and I hope it will be alright. By the way, the in-program update function seems to be broken?

No chance that 0.4.14 will connect to the network, because all nodes already updated to 0.4.17 and was hard fork after 0.4.14.
Update function has a problem, keep asking if you select 'No' but it's works, and updates only GUI, don't expect that it's will update 0.4.14 to 0.4.17.

OK I downloaded https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/archive/v0.4.17.tar.gz   Can someone please tell me what to do next?

It's Bitshares 0.4.14 and Kubuntu 14.04

If you downloaded v0.4.17.tar.gz - it's BitSharesX 0.4.17  :)
What to do next you can read here: https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/blob/master/BUILD_UBUNTU.md

Hi, same here with Lubuntu. You can go to console and type getinfo. There you will see the number of connections, block number and so on. Maybe it only works with Gnome or something because sometimes I saw "GTK error".
