FreeKeyID.com - faucet is dry.  Is there another site I can register?  Or, can someone send me the 100.5 DNS (I think that's what is needed to register) to the following address?

KEY6cZLP5aJSg4Md3yPgiq21DZpvdX7E49EDnKDpn87L1wvQv3mRP

I will send back.  Thanks!

Thanks Cube for your response.  I have been reading the relevant threads today and yes I can see that all parties involved -- toast, BM, etc., the exchanges -- are taking extraordinary steps to compensate all those who may have
been unintentionally harmed.  I guess we are a derivative definition of the "innocent bystanders" and it is quite
telling about the general character and sentiment of this community that everyone is willing to make sacrifices to do
the right thing.   I think this bodes well for the future where I'm sure even bigger issues await.  :-)

Also thanks to Toast,  I will post a detailed reply in the10381  thread.

Hey Cube,

I replied to your PM.   It would be an understatement to say a lot transpired over the past few days..

Looks like I will be SOL as far as my DNS investment is concerned...

Hey Cube,

I was trying to reply to your post..but I wasn't allowed to include your "quote" in my reply because of the external link included

I figured this out after I sent you a pm.. :-)   Again proof I am very new at this but I'm learning.

Anyway if you can reply either way that's fine.  Even if I can't register a keyid  I will still purchase some DNS

thanks again

No problem.  We were all new users once. :)

I replied your PM.

I saw your PMed post. I think I will reply here for the benefits of others who are in the same predicament. If this is of any consolation to you, I like you to know that I too have recently bought DNS left on the exchange during the sudden plunge.  And I believe there are a number of people out there who are facing the same challenge.  All hope is not lost.  There is an attempt to contact bter and btc38 to see if they can do an retroactive snapshot. See https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=10381.msg136265#msg136265

If the attempt turns out positive, you may get your lost DNS back.  :)

Hi Cube

I am a newbie trying to register on KeyID but I am encountering the same "chicken & egg" problem as with
BTSX...I acquired some DNS tokens and tried to send to my wallet but Bter would not process
the transaction.. I can't use freekeyid...I don't have a twitter or google authentication account.

...

We like to encourage new users to use the faucet.  If you do not have a twitter or google account, not a problem. It is really easy to create one.  You can sign up for one at https://twitter.com/signup in just a few steps .. (less than a minute?).  Do give it a try.   :)

Could I ask if anyone could send the required DNS so I can finish the registration process.. I will
pay you back with interest or contribute to your faucet in return.

thanks for the link
After getting a few errors of bad usernames now I get the error message :Oh no! The faucet has run dry!
Now what? :-)

I just sent some fund to the above Free KeyID faucet.  But the fund is running out fast because the registration fee has gone up a lot to 500DNS.  We need donors! Please help to contribute to the faucet by sending your DNS to ID : bitcube.  Many thanks!

Hi

There is no 'wallet path' box in the OSX version?

Sorry. I was not clear.  The 'wallet path' is referring to step 4 in this screenshot http://keyid.cubeconnex.com/img/import-pts.png

Are you able to follow the steps listed in the screenshot?  There are 6 steps shown.

Hi

The layout of the OS X keyid is different.
It is not possible to fill in a wallet path etc.  :(

Who is the dev? Can someone report this?

I seem to be stuck on block 1251.  My wallet stopped syncing.  Any reason you guys can think of?

There is another person who had problem with the Mac GUI but succeeded with the CLI (command-line client).  See https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=10122.msg132078#msg132078

The program client bitshares_client is in subfolder /programs/client. Have you tried that?

I also don't understand what you are trying to explain
I don't have a subfolder of the KeyID, just the client in the programs subfolder
What is the command-line client?
This is the first time I have this many difficulties using a client...

Not being in newbie in the crypto scene and experience with different clients, I don't quite understand what it does not work for me….
Any help is appreciated

No problem. We will do our best to help you.

I am not familiar with mac. But I can try to help you with the same concept used in Window client.  If the Mac GUI import is not working for you, we can try using the console command.  You will need to find out the file path of the wallet.dat.  It will be something like "~/Library/Application Support/BitShares-PTS/wallet.dat".  Are you able to find out the wallet.dat file path?

Hmm not really, I guess…
How does one do that? :-)

There is a guide with visual help. See if this helps.

http://superuser.com/questions/371513/how-to-tell-full-path-of-file-on-mac

Edit: If you can get the file path, you may be able to paste it into the 'wallet path' box and click 'Import Wallet'.  This will save you from having to try the console method.

back up the account to a .dat file?
that worked
now importing it into the keyid client… seems import wallet in the tabs does not work?
does the complete blockchain has to be downloaded first before I can import?

best regards

Are you using the latest keyid wallet - version 0.0.4? If not, please download from http://keyid.info and upgrade your wallet.  I have put up a screenshot of how to import from bitcoin/pts using the latest wallet.  Please check that you see the tags "Keys" and "Import Keys from Wallet".

http://keyid.cubeconnex.com/img/import-pts.png
On second thought, it is easier for a new user to import the PTS wallet.dat (ie ignore the dump-pts-key step).  You do not need to wait for the blockchain to sync before importing. The balance will show up after the blockchain is synced.

How do I import the wallet.dat file into the keyid client?

http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Bitshares-x-how-to#Attempting_a_wallet_import_to_receive_BTSX_from_February_28th_snapshot

It doesn't work.
In the keyid client, I don't have the option to pick a bitcoin-format wallet or any other.
There is only one option and that is to select the tab on top of the keyid client 'file', then 'import wallet'. But when I try to locate the 'wallet.dat' file I created from the backing up of the PTS client, it is not highlighted so I can't select it to be imported.
In the wiki.bitshares.org tutorial that you sent me I can see that the complete directory has to be selected to be able to import the wallet. However, there is no directory in OS X….
A .dmg package installer creates a bishares PTS .app file. That's about it in OSX…There is no directory as in windows….

Best regards

Okay, now I attempted to import my private key for my Bitcoin wallet that contributed to AGS, but I am not being rewarded.   I found my address in the genesis block using the link Xeroc provided.   Can't figure it out.  It pulls back blank transactions with not "claim" memo.

An error can occur on attempting to dumpprivkey, which does not explain that you need to first unlock your wallet. To unlock your PTS wallet for a bit, you can use this command in the console / debug window:

walletpassphrase <your_password> 9999999 true

Then you can try dumpprivkey.

pgbit, that did it.  THANKS!!!!!!

Ok it seems I had to press open GUI legacy…
Now how do I import my PTS wallet to claim my DNS?
I am running the keyid on osx

Best regards

Try the steps as suggested by xeroc - first dump the private address in the PTS wallet and later import it in the KeyID wallet.

How do you dump a private address in the PTS wallet?

back up the account to a .dat file?

its in the genesis block:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/keyid/keyid/master/libraries/blockchain/genesis_keyid.json
Code: [Select]
        [
            "1NEnwHhqPg5UBAWUbedgcZXUXQSETWxq6Y",
            357935353000
        ],

It should work pretty much the same way as with btsx
see here:
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Bitshares-x-how-to#Attempting_a_wallet_import_to_receive_BTSX_from_February_28th_snapshot

alternatively .. open you PTS wallet and dump the private key via the debug console:
Code: [Select]
dumpprivkey 1NEnwHhqPg5UBAWUbedgcZXUXQSETWxq6Y
.. and import that one manually in the keyid client

Now theres another problem when I try to export my PTS private key.   Private key for address ....... is not known (code -4)

You need to be sure that you have this address "1NEnwHhqPg5UBAWUbedgcZXUXQSETWxq6Y" in your wallet.  The error message is saying you do not have this address in the wallet.

Cube, thanks for your reply.   My Protoshares address is in my wallet, but I still cannot get my private key.  When I import the PTS wallet through KeyID client, I only get rewarded for the PTS I donated to AGS, but not the PTS I owned when the snapshot was taken.

I'm wondering if there is an issue with the PTS client not allowing my private key to be retrieved, therefore my PTS donations are not being honored.

Try the steps as suggested by xeroc - first dump the private address in the PTS wallet and later import it in the KeyID wallet.

How do you dump a private address in the PTS wallet?

its in the genesis block:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/keyid/keyid/master/libraries/blockchain/genesis_keyid.json
Code: [Select]
        [
            "1NEnwHhqPg5UBAWUbedgcZXUXQSETWxq6Y",
            357935353000
        ],

It should work pretty much the same way as with btsx
see here:
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Bitshares-x-how-to#Attempting_a_wallet_import_to_receive_BTSX_from_February_28th_snapshot

alternatively .. open you PTS wallet and dump the private key via the debug console:
Code: [Select]
dumpprivkey 1NEnwHhqPg5UBAWUbedgcZXUXQSETWxq6Y
.. and import that one manually in the keyid client

Now theres another problem when I try to export my PTS private key.   Private key for address ....... is not known (code -4)

You need to be sure that you have this address "1NEnwHhqPg5UBAWUbedgcZXUXQSETWxq6Y" in your wallet.  The error message is saying you do not have this address in the wallet.

Hi

I don't quite get the procedure yet, it seems…
I got the message that I was successfully registered.
After opening Keyid again and resetting the database, I entered my passphrase.
Now it asks me again to register on the blockchain?

Ok it seems I had to press open GUI legacy…
Now how do I import my PTS wallet to claim my DNS?

Best regards

I would help by PTS client not allowing me to dump my private key ... so I can't verify what Xeroc said earlier works.   Does anyone know if there are issues with Bitshares-PTS client

thanks for the link
After getting a few errors of bad usernames now I get the error message :Oh no! The faucet has run dry!
Now what? :-)

I just sent some fund to the above Free KeyID faucet.  But the fund is running out fast because the registration fee has gone up a lot to 500DNS.  We need donors! Please help to contribute to the faucet by sending your DNS to ID : bitcube.  Many thanks!

Are AGS holders being rewarded for this DAC.
Yes they are ..
I have not been able to receive any distributions for AGS I am holding.
you are probably doing something wrong .. how are you importing your private keys? which are the addresses(?) in question?

Here is one of my claim addresses - 1NEnwHhqPg5UBAWUbedgcZXUXQSETWxq6Y

I'm importing my keys by ..
1.  click on account
2. select Keys tab
3. select "Import Keys from Wallet"

It worked when I imported my PTS wallet, but when I attempt to import my BTC wallet I haven't gotten it to work.  Also I noticed when I import my PTS wallet it only credits me for the contributions I made to AGS, but not the PTS that I owned on the date of snapshot.

Is the import priv key area working?  After importing two priv keys my client is not showing any genesis credit...
Yes it allowed me to import for both Bitcoin and PTS.

I've imported pts wallets just fine into KeyID - here's the method for anyone not sure:

(1) Within KeyID, register your account name, then click on >_Console lower down on the left hand menu

(2) In the text box at the top, below Console, type:

wallet_import_bitcoin "c:\<your_chosen_folder>\your_pts_wallet_name.dat" your_top_secret_password your_keyID_accountname

The question I had was on the use of the File > Import wallet command, which imports a .json wallet. Is this just purely a way to backup KeyID wallet somehow, or does importing say a Bitshares wallet tie a founder account to that KeyID? How can you tie founder ID to KeyID wallet or is that required?

I've tried to do that, and I got an error message. Something like "unable to decrypt key" (with a lot of things I don't understand)

your_top_secret_password - is it the account private key or the password I chose to unlock the wallet with the PTS client?

Thanks!

Offline davidpbrown

So this worked for me, claiming the account that was in the genesis block.

In BitSharesX console do:
wallet_dump_private_key accountyouwanttoclaimfromgenesis
=> 5privatekey

In KeyID then do:
wallet_import_private_key 5privatekey accountyouwanttoclaimfromgenesis

Once that account exists then do wallet_import_bitcoin for the //pts/wallet.dat address and passphrase and KeyIDaccountname that you want to claim the PTS->DNS into.

What of those names that are already registered with the genesis blockchain? Can we import those to their own account?..

I'm getting an error, that I cannot create the account name because it is registered and then also I cannot import the wallet because I haven't created an account. Must the account on genesis become a sub-account or can it be the main account?

I am not sure. I am guessing its might be this console command:
(from here: http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares_X_Solutions#How_to_import_Keyhotee_IDs)

wallet_import_keyhotee <firstname> <middlename> <lastname> <brain_key> <keyhotee_id>

Would be good if someone can confirm this is safe to do at this stage.
