Been reading a lot of articles on reddit and from other sources saying that apparently anybody can now go to Germany and get a decent college education at a fraction of the gouging that is standard here in the U.S.

There's a better chance of me becoming ABL's private butler than there is of me ever taking out another student loan, so I have about ten different tabs up now on the subject of pursuing a higher education in Germany, and it's something I'm giving consideration to in maybe a couple years. Sounds like it might be a good backup plan for establishing a decent life if crypto doesn't blow up hard, or I end up being a weak hand.

Since this article came out I've become aware that France also offers free education, and that's something worth considering too because I already speak some French, but I'd have to learn German from scratch. But from what I'm reading the cost of living is higher in France than in Germany, but that's a different subject, Germany has piqued my interest for the time being-- and I find dirndls oddly sexy as all hell, so let's talk about Germany.

Basically, I know there are some Germans here so I wanted to do a reality check through you guys. Is this situation really as good as it sounds? Can I really just work hard to save up 20,000 to 40,000 bitEUR (would that be enough to go college and live off for 3-4 years?), learn German, get accepted to a German University, catch a flight and never look back? Would you Germans hate me because I'd be displacing an otherwise qualified German employee? What's the catch here?

Suppose this really is as good as it sounds, what part of Germany would you suggest I look into? I'm a small town guy, so I'm thinking maybe a nice German college in a town of 3-6 thousand somewhere in the Northern part of Germany just about might be ideal.

Am I overlooking anything? What do you guys think?
