I think this is a good idea. BTS isn't a great vehicle for the social consensus, but GNS could be. I'd say it should just be 50/50 AGS/PTS.

Yes! I will vote for this 100%.

General Discussion / Question on the new yield rules on BitAssets
« on: October 22, 2014, 11:13:59 pm »
The github release notes for 0.4.21 say "Claimable interest yield is now calculated as a fraction of circulating asset supply rather than total asset supply." What does circulating mean? Is that just total bitAssets not on orders?

ok!
i understand..
i need to vote > 101
but how to choose delegates???

some tips?

thanks!

The wallet gives you some useful information: pay rate (the lower the pay rate, the more fees are burned as dividends) and reliability (% of last x many blocks the delegate missed). When I've gone through and voted, what I've done is decided on a reliability threshold (I like 98%) and a pay rate threshold (I chose 90%) and then voted for everybody above that reliability line and everybody below that pay line. Then I went through and looked for names I recognize or forum members I particularly respect, and voted for them as well.

holy cow has a lot happened in a short period of time!

do you guys think it'd be more profitable to trade in PTS for BTSX before the snapshot, or turn BTSX into PTS for the snapshot?

Well if PTS is going to get 75 million BTS then you will get ~42 BTS for each PTS.

42 BTSX (note the X) is worth a round half of one  PTS right now. I would say sell the hell out of PTS.

whoa buddy... no. PTS gets 175 million; you're going to get something like 106 BTS for each PTS. Like I said before, PTS is about a 20% discount to BTSX right now.

When do we expect these payments to be made?

Exodus block of BTSX... with all the other merged stakes.

Ohhh, I see... so people will claim by importing their KeyID wallets?

I'm trying to see if bter and btc38 can do retroactive snapshots

I think I recall Bter had trouble finding historical balances for the Lottoshares snapshots... Hopefully it's recent enough that won't be a problem.

Query:

I claimed my AGS allocation via my KEYID wallet. I have something over a million DNS.  Help me out here. Are my DNS still on the genesis block or did I move them to my wallet when I claimed them? Just trying to understand if claiming my DNS yesterday effected my allocation today.

Did you claim them before BM's announcement yesterday? If no, then you're not entitled to any of the AGS funds.

If yes, then I don't know... Did you move the funds around? Did you vote? If you just left them in your AGS private keys without moving them, I don't know the answer to your question... Anybody else?

I'm a cheerleader, yes. Not for Dan though, my allegiance lies with blockchain technology and nowhere else. The superDAC happens to be the optimal incarnation of blockchain tech, and Dan is the harbinger that will made it manifest into this world. This is the real beginning of what Satoshi started, and how de we celebrate this event? With forum drama. I just can't help but find it embarrassing.

There is going to be forum drama when some poeple just took a huge loss and others didnt.

Hopefully Bytemaster's new modification will make everyone happy and we can all move forward together.

General Discussion / Re: BitUSD across DACs
« on: October 22, 2014, 06:46:24 pm »
I was listening to the Bitcoins and Gravy interview with the guys from Peertracks and they mentioned that BitUSD will be utilized as the main form of payment on Peertracks.  I want to make sure I understand this correctly...

  • BitUSD exists on the BitsharesX block chain collateralized by BTSX.
  • BitUSD exists on the Peertracks block chain collateralized by NOTES?

If the above is accurate, can BitUSD move between the BTSX and the NOTES chains?

That's the idea, but keep in mind that this is all subject to change. They just merged several other DACs to fix this particular issue, so don't be surprised if we see a BTS/MUSIC merger down the road at some point.

How would this work?  won't most of this then just go to the exchange addresses?  How will it make its way to individual users?

Bter and BTC38 are really great about distributing these kinds of things to users. The problem will be if they don't have pre-announcement snapshots...

387
(Also, the trick about doing a snapshot and then posting!  Good way to help the people who actually had DNS, rather than to help whatever trader managed to see this post first). ;)

Here's the secret: since he has a copy of the blockchain, he can do a snapshot retroactively!

388
This is a super-cool idea, and it speaks huge volumes about your commitment to making this work. Really, really great.  +5% +5%

So to re-state what you said to make sure I got it right:

You take snapshot of DNS balances just prior to your announcement, and distribute AGS funds to those addresses which are not in the genesis block to compensate them for the possibility that they purchased on the exchange pre-announcement?

I traded all my PTS for BTSX yesterday before the liquidity premium priced in. If the liquidity premium gets high enough, I'll trade some back.

By my calculations, today PTS has been trading at around a 13-15% discount to BTSX; that means with a 2-year vesting period, if you turn BTSX into PTS you'll make your investment back in about 20 months.

This is just me, but if I were you I'd wait until the liquidity premium goes up. I'll probably start buying PTS slowly at a 25% discount; I'll probably buy large amounts if the discount goes below 50%.

BitShares PTS / Re: BitShares-PTS 1.0 Release (2.18.2014)
« on: October 22, 2014, 06:15:20 pm »
I'm beginning to think bitshares sucks

Long confirmation times on PTS are normal due to its archaic difficulty adjustment algorithm. Essentially it's a very poorly-designed bitcoin clone that doesn't incentivize mining very effectively. Don't worry, your transaction will go through. Mine took over an hour yesterday.
