It is native android so it runs extremely fast.
Is it native Android connected to the hosted wallet infrastructure of the OpenLedger server?
If so, does it mean you've ported the whole client-side JavaScript code-base to native Android?

Ported, no. This has been written from scratch. You guys can see the code in a few weeks when I upload everything to github for forking etc :)

[ANN] BlockPay - The App that allows any Business to accept any Crypto-currency at Zero Cost
Integrated completely with your favorite store's Point Of Sale system

Looking for somewhere to spend your Ether? Your Bitcoin, Dash or Steem..?

Over the last few weeks we have been coding yet another mobile wallet, this one is named Smartcoins Wallet. It is native android so it runs extremely fast.

In this video, the Smartcoins Wallet is on the left, and on the right one of our POS systems has been installed on an old phone...

The merchant charges you a specific amount, you scan the QR code (we will put the new scanner in there next week) with your wallet, the merchant receives the currency that they want and you got to spend the crypto that you wanted to spend (Smartcoins/BTS/SBD/BTC/ETH/LTC, etc) and in a few seconds the merchant can automatically reward you with loyalty points (tradeable on the open exchange or can be traded in upon your next visit at that merchant for discounts).

Of course the wallets and Bitshares blockchain also support Overdraft Protection, 3 second blocks, 100,000+ transactions per second, eReceipts (the QR code (or NFC) sends a small pdf file to your phone), unlimited altcoins and other assets, automated accounting and full rewards card (loyalty points) features.

BlockPay (the Smartcoins POS api/apps) can be integrated with nearly any existing POS system that you find at a grocery, retail, petrol, vending machines, restaurant or other business.

We still have a lot of UI/UX work to do and need to add just a few more features, but over the next few weeks I hope to have those finished as well. As usual, everything is open source, works with most crypto wallets (Mycelium, Jaxx, etc), and will be posted on github once we're happy with it.

As per my mountain of comments above, I now see I am not the only one having a hard time trying to get into the apple app store...
https://news.bitcoin.com/apple-ban-ethereum-ios/

How would it actually differ from the current app? and will it be open source like the current wallet?
Thanks again!

Open Source == Always :)

The new mobile wallet is so fast because I used android-native for this one instead of running apache cordova and shittons of overhead (although now there is a wallet on my github (/kenCode-de) that anyone can fork and brand, etc).
The new mobile wallet will not have a Finder or Exchange screens, nobody seemed to care about those features, so I moved that capital into this new wallet instead.
The new mobile wallet will have these features:

Great job once again Ken!

btw, whats the status on the "lightning fast" v 1.0 native android wallet?

Thanx maemon :)
I'm hoping to have the first alpha apk ready for testing ~June 1st. I probably won't give that apk to anyone here in the community though for a couple weeks after, once I feel comfortable enough to slap a beta1 onto it. We are already running the first test transactions through it now..

BitShares Munich will be finishing up the Stealth project. We are launching the new Smartcoins Wallet in android-native ~June 1st and two different POS systems too around the same time. We added, and are training two IPFS people on Graphene right now as well, so all of these tools will be able to work together seamlessly. I am not going to give any dates as of yet, but rest assured guys, Stealth is high-priority. It actually needs to be finished up before we can start on any of our other personal projects that we want to do next. Stealth is next.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker Proposal] Chronos Crypto videos
« on: May 22, 2016, 07:09:05 am »
@xeroc, do you?
I totally do!

Though I have some critiques on it:

* If you focus on OpenLedger, then Openledger should pay you.
* I would love to see (already in the very beginning) an explanation video that distinguishes BitShares from OpenLedger/FreedomLedger/MakerX(and whatever comes next). This is where we TOTALLY failed. People believe BitShares is owned bit OpenLedger.
* Then I would like to see more walk-throughs and don't think we need all the tech lectures just yet. Tell people how to do things, then tell people how it works later on. There is documentation (in text form) for this already, so I don't think we needs this just yet.

Go for it!

@Chronos now has the votes of everyone at BitShares Munich too :)

BitShares Wallet users, please backup your Brainkey now, and also a .bin file.
Remove the mobile wallet completely (we upgraded a lot of the files and db).

THEN, feel free to download the latest version (v1.0.5):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bitsharesmunich.wallet

WHAT'S NEW
Improved QR code reading, added Overdraft Protection (select a backup asset in Settings menu), added Rewards Card (loyalty points) feature, improved callbacks with Smartcoins POS systems (so the cashier does not sit there giving you a dirty look while waiting for your payment), small UI updates.

I hope you like it! :)
