If you can send bitcoin by SMS, you can send bitshares (or bitUSD).

I'm aware of two young services that I'd like to see grow, especially to include bitshares.

https://www.kipochi.com have an emerging-market focus.

https://beamremit.com/ are in the remittance space, principally Ghana but also supporting Nigeria (as do TransferWise, now). I also know the founder of https://kitiwa.com (who seems close to the management of bitpesa) and am close to campaigning what may be the first bitshares delegate on (West) African soil, to be hosted in a data centre in Accra, besides some of Google's own boxes.

DataSecurityNode - I'd be happy to work with you.

You can go long any quantity of bitEUR, providing there is corresponding demand from shorts.

This still needs fixing. I click download for 'Mavericks' (I'm on Yosemite, but whatever). Safari. I go to 'thank you for downloading' but no download is triggered. I have to right click -> download as. Let's not make this software DIFFICULT TO DOWNLOAD.

Speaking of which, for the likes of us actual bitshares users, couldn't we have a 'DOWNLOAD' button on the front page at bitshares.org ? I'm not 'opening an account'. I'm just grabbing an update. I shouldn't feel I have to 'humour the machine'.

I'd love to help with the website, if someone could get me some keys cut.

Technical Support / Re: Restoring wallet backup throws assert exception
« on: February 18, 2015, 01:42:28 am »
I'm trying to restore a backup copy of my wallet made on 0.6.0 on one computer to another computer with a fresh install of 0.6.0, and I get the following exception:

Any tips?

Please confirm whether this issue has been fixed in 0.6.1: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/releases/tag/bts%2F0.6.1

This is still a problem.

I'm having the same problem with 0.6.1

I exported on the 14th january 2015, although I'm not certain which version I was using (very likely the then current version).

Africa definitely stands to benefit the most, in relative terms, among continents, from crypto, and especially bitshares.

On that front, I'm very excited about this mobile wallet. Wow.

In Africa everybody use a mobile phone but the problem is 99% don't have Internet on them, so light wallet will not help much. What we need is a SMS solution. So basically we need a big mobile provider in our side.

Very true, but I wonder if it isn't more like 97% - and that 3% of smartphone-enabled African business is not to be sneezed at. Seriously.

To cater for SMS customers, no telco partner is needed; it's just a matter of web-wallet provision with SMS integration.

Right click -> refresh?

That helps.. Perhaps we need a more prominent refresh button - I had no idea that was available to me. Thanks.

- Is the client showing "syned to network" or is it still syncing?
- run a "history" in the console (in the advanced menu)

I have a similar problem - no balances, no transaction history, even though its showing Blocks are Synced, and I used the client with no problem just a few days ago.
I ran "history" in the console for my accounts, and they each come back with "No transactions found".
May be incidental, but I also noted that whenever I change my preferences for the "logout timeout", they are not being retained for the next time I log in.

I also have 'no transactions' in my dashboard view, although the problem is intermittent. I also have no preservation of my logout timeout preferences.

But running 'history' in the GUI shows plenty.

I'm fully synced with version 0.6.1 for Mac.

The UK is an incredibly (somewhat bizarrely) difficult destination for cryptocurrency.
