Title: BIP 44 for bitshares
Post by: bilthon on January 30, 2017, 05:02:09 pm
Hi there.

I was thinking about how can I integrate a bitshares 2.0 account key into the hierarchy described by BIP44. After checking the registered coin types at https://github.com/satoshilabs/slips/blob/master/slip-0044.md (https://github.com/satoshilabs/slips/blob/master/slip-0044.md), I could even find steem there at index 135.

Which begs the question, which index should I use for a bitshares account? Is there an index already "claimed" for it?

Thanks

Please read SLIP 48 .. it has Graphene in the title and describes a potential procedure ..

Curious - I would imagine the numeric index values are basically arbitrary, but why is Steem 0 and BitShares 1 rather than the other way around? BitShares came before Steem after all.

Its arbitraty and i started working on the slip during the  hackathon in oslo which was for steem ... if we ever have had a bts hackathon i could have ben the other way round. But yeah .. pretty arbitrary :)
