Two people are reporting the same problem where they get the error message, "Failed to create account: - unknown error" when trying to create an account on Openledger. Can you advise if something is going on?
-
I don't know what's going on at open ledger. I'm sure they will fix whatever issue there is.
You can create accounts at dele-puppy.com but referral links arent working at the moment so no referrals.

@svk This issue is not just with openledger.
In another test wallet I am experiencing the exact same issue straight out of the graphene depo.
It was driving me crazy trying to figure out why everything was working and then suddenly didn't.
Perhaps our issue is not identical.. but in analyzing the logs, it appears when account registrations are attempted they are not even posting to the web server. I get no data whatsoever to show that it POST.
Meanwhile all other functions not related to the faucet work just fine.
I hope this is helpful in your debugging.

A copy of the printout from the browser console would be helpful; there should be errors in there that are probably more explicit.

I just made an account on openledger without any problems.
-
I tried just now, but I get the unknown error.
Something's definitely wrong.
-
Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Same here.
I test it in Google Chrome private mode.
Failed to create account: test-account-name - unknown error

Interesting ... the sources of the wallet clearly show that the faucet should be at `https` .. could you take a look at your local settings in the wallet and verify that you have `https` in the faucet url?
If not, please add an "s" and retry!

Oh.

I made a change to use 'https' and it worked!

It worked. Can this problem be fixed permanently?

Yup, you have to change http to https to create wallet.
-
I wonder how that happened ..
The sources are all fine and state https

Yea it's strange, I don't see how it could've happened unless the users actually changed the address themselves although that seems unlikely too. The URL has been https://... since it was added though, I looked up the history: https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2-ui/blob/87d071d1d6fd5bb0d1a0472f254a4e31282bfd40/dl/src/stores/SettingsStore.js#L17
Edit: I did recently make a change in order to keep the faucet setting from disappearing when a user would delete the whole string, in that case the address shown would simply be "http". Perhaps it's related to that, I'll push a change to default to "https://" instead.
