Yea good idea. I think someone need to make a video or a guide for people who are not tech savy. I would do it if I knew how.

Seems the lending idea is either in the works or has at least been discussed. It's on the "Future Industries" page.

Ah I wasn't aware of that, thanks!
That's awesome. Can't wait for that to come out. When it does come out that should give btsx such a great boost.

You are cute...

bitshares DNS just launched and is tradable only a few days ago

Thanks!  8)

Hmm I was not aware bitshares DNS issued consumer loans?

Or maybe you misunderstood me. I'm not talking about domain names. I am talking about consumer loans (like a credit card does). So for example someone wants to get a new pool for $30,000. If they go to lendingclub.com they sign up for a 3-5 year loan with 20-30% interest.
Investors each contribute $25 dollars to the loan until the person reaches the $30,000 goal and gets the loan. The investor can be regular people like you and I hence p2p lending. Make sense?

I would consider joining if you guys accept bitUSD?

‘think about the scenario of a loan officer talking to a prospective client. To software people, that looks like voodoo. The idea that you can sit across the table from somebody and get a read on their character is just nonsense.

Couldn't agree more. One of the things I invest in is lendingclub.com. It's pretty much a p2p lending service (with amazing returns). I was just thinking how AMAZING it would be to have a decentralized p2p DAC. If nobody has thought of this they really should consider it. I think it would take off like wild fire and be a huge success if done properly.

General Discussion / Re: Can explanation of BitUSD be simplified?
« on: October 09, 2014, 04:47:14 am »
I agree we need a simple BitUSD explanation.

Currently the BitUSD on coinmarketcap links to the market peg wiki http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Market_Peg  but I think it should link to a webpage that looks more like the 'How Can NuBits be used' part of this webpage, https://nubits.com/ but that also describes briefly and clearly how BitUSD is backed. Hmm and maybe even very briefly why other systems like NuBits are a ponzi.

Edit: Maybe besides a download wallet also a buy BitUSD link that takes you to bter BitUSD trading page? (Once we add more liquidity to it of course.)

Also would be great if it was in the form of a graphic we could just post on forums etc. too.

I'm working on a simple explanation site similar to NuBits. Will be done this week.

Cool!

"Woah there, hold your horses and please not only read, but COMPREHEND THE INTENSTIONS of the OP OK.  WE won't use the word: “PONZI”

We will let the market and media figure it out for themselves.  That was the whole plan:  to teach the market that BitShares (and BitUSD) beats NuBits.  And if there is a better way, than to put them head to head on the BTSX blockchain and have a highly publicized duel to the death where we can gamble on the winner like a fun time Las Vegas Friday Night Fight at the MGM grand, then, where do I pay to see this Battle Royal!"

The media doesn't give 2 btsx about "figure it out". They only care about views. And the headline I think they would roll with is "I3 creates ponzi scheme and invites people to partake!"

Yea in a perfect world where people didn't spin things to fit their agenda this would be an amazing idea. Sadly we don't live in that world.

I have no doubt Dan is a genius. How does that saying go? Ah, crowds are smarter than the smartest individual in them.
There might be things Dan has missed or not thought of. It is good to have someone challenge his ideas (even if they are right).

General Discussion / Re: How much is a new user worth?
« on: October 06, 2014, 06:21:30 pm »
Open bazaar is great but a small userbase that even if we grab 100% it would be insignificant in the next few years.

Walk before you run...

A successful bitUSD implementation will expose Bitshares to a crucial (though perhaps not large) demographic of crypto-enthusiasts, investors and end users.

And let's not forget that OB, if successful, may quickly become one of the largest pools of crypto-users in the world.

If I3 is not willing to fund integration I would contribute to a crowd funding effort.
