General Discussion / Re: Top 100 richest BTSX address?
« on: September 17, 2014, 11:27:41 pm »
Is it possible to generate a Top 100 BTSX address? also someone can build a distribution graph?
That does not make much sense as every single transaction gets a NEW address .. no way to link it to an account ... TITAN rox :)

This.

A distribution graph would be possible to be made from genesis.json though. I'm not sure how accurate it would be as people could of donated to AGS from multiple addresses, both btc and PTS addresses, or held AGS and PTS. Thus if they got their stake multiple ways, it would be listed as different addresses in the genesis block. I guess the same goes with all purely PoS coins though.. People can donate with multiple addresses and distribution graphs may be inaccurate.

General Discussion / Old Bitcointalk threads prophesized BitsharesX
« on: September 17, 2014, 08:57:35 am »
So I can't sleep tonight and am bored... I decided to go to the first page of the Alternative Cryptocurrency subforum on Bitcointalk and something caught my eyes. A thread titled "Multicoin, Namecoin, Goldcoin, Silvercoin, OilCoin, 1971coin, backed by bitcoin!"

Warning: This thread leads to several other threads discussing the same topic, and could waste hours of your time as it has mine!!  ;D

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=31032.0

After reading several solutions to creating FIAT or commodity "market pegged" assets from 2011, it seems BitsharesX is likely a superior solution from the ideas that were shared, although some ideas come shockingly close to exactly how BitsharesX works.

Admittedly I haven't read all the threads or posts thoroughly which are linked in this thread, but I thought some of you may find these conversations interesting and perhaps there is a good idea that could improve BitsharesX buried within. :)

Here is the updated email template, thank you to those that submitted edits.

Subject: Please consider adding BTSX and Bitassets to your exchange.

BitSharesX is no clone coin, so please hear me out! BTSX has the first commodity, cryptocurrency, and FIAT decentralized asset exchange, the assets traded on the decentralized exchange are named Bitassets. The values of the Bitassets are "market pegged" to their true real-life values through trade on a decentralized market. The market peg is held by people taking opposite investment positions on that asset (short or long). The appropriate amount of BTSX is held in collateral to back the Bitassets such as bitUSD, bitBTC, bitCNY, and bitGOLD.

Accepting BTSX could expand your original business model beyond cryptocurrencies and into real life commodities. Furthermore, working with decentralized FIAT is much more convenient due to onerous taxes and government policies such as kyc, etc. As of this Wednesday, Bitassets will gain interest from transaction and market fees from each Bitasset. Some estimates have put that interest at about 5% to 10% yearly, and this makes bitUSD a good alternative to a savings account in a bank.

Along with the above benefits your customers will enjoy the 10 second block confirmations, on the new Delegated Proof of Stake algorithm, which is as secure as one Bitcoin confirmation. Delegated proof of stake uses a stake holder's vote to vote in the 101 block producers that alternate turns producing the next block. If a delegate is doing a bad job, or is attacking the network, then they can be voted out of power easily by other stake holders. In this way, delegates that were "hired" can also be "fired" by stakeholders in the network. The adjustable pay and burn rate of delegates also allows for creative campaigns to be launched by delegates, who can then funnel a % of their pay toward bolstering the community in some way.

Unlike Bitcoin, Litecoin, and most cryptocurrencies, BTSX is truly deflationary as transaction fees are  destroyed and no more BTSX will be printed, and most cryptocurrencies are still in the inflationary stage of their distribution model. The destruction of transaction fees serves as a means to pay "dividends" to shareholders by increasing the buyer power of remaining BTSX in the system. It is possible that due to its utility and features, along with its truly deflationary model, it could appreciate in value better and faster than other cryptocurrencies.

In summary, please consider adding BitsharesX and Bitassets to your exchange for all the benefits they will bring, and the large community that is forming around it. BitSharesX and Bitassets are truly revolutionary ideas that deserve to be traded on the bigger cryptocurrency exchanges, and rise above the "copy and paste coins" and gimmicks that alternative cryptocurrencies have mostly been in the past.

Thanks,

General Discussion / Re: delegate alecmenconi, please come in here
« on: September 14, 2014, 08:45:49 pm »
seem the server time of your delegate node is incorrect, which cause 3 delegates missing block at last 3 rounds, please check and update your server NTP service accordingly if necessary.

He is not the only one...

I might of been one of those since late last night.. My apologies. I ran into trouble while updating to 0.4.15 as I kept running out of memory after multiple reboots and deleting/re-building the client. I ended up having to start over from a fresh VPS image. I'm still not sure what was causing the issue, isn't 2Gb the recommended memory amount??

Anyways.. I just got NTP re-installed. Thanks for reminding me. :)

I apologize gentleman for no updates in a bit.. My laptop died a few days ago and it makes it challenging to to anything since I have to use my iPad or netbook which runs at the speed of tortoise. I will get emails edited into the OP this weekend. I also had another idea of adding exchanges and services Bitcointalk threads where people could voice their support for Bitshares too.. That is on the to do list.  :D

Are you using git clone and then checkout master or do you extract the tar.gz file and then terminal your way through? Could someone tell me the command please? Thanks
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BuildInstructionsBitSharesX

I use git-master .. not the 0.4.13-rc1 tag/label

I guess there are several ways to do it, but this worked for me:

git checkout 0.4.13RC1

Thanks guys. :)

Re: Short and sweet. I think you guys can write your own emails of course using your own words. I thought someone might be more likely to send an email if they could copy and paste one though, either way works for me.

I will get emails for all of the services and the final draft of the email posted by tomorrow evening. Feel free to suggest alternative methods of soliciting services and/or services not on the list.. I know there are probably quite a bit of services that aren't on the list.

Can someone peer review this email below? I am going to gather email addresses for all services on the list. Email is about the only thing left to do I can think of, unless someone else has any other ideas.. I would be happy to hear. :)

Here is a video released from Paypal's official Youtube account.

Maybe I am reading too far into it, but it seems like this whole video is referencing Bitcoin. At 0:10 it says "we can spend Bitcoin on a tap."

It seems Paypal Bitcoin support is imminent.

Hehheehe. Couldn't help myself.  :P

General Discussion / Re: Time to convince BitPay to adopt BitUSD.
« on: September 07, 2014, 06:50:08 am »
More exchanges and payment processors are definitely needed! I'm not sure if Bitpay would be down though, they have been somewhat reluctant to adopt ALT coins. I have been trying to get in contact with some that do though, we could use some help if you have some time: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8384.0

I'm getting Sunday's mission in early.  ;)

I have created pre-filled tweets with all of the services we have yet to contact that are on the list. Please take 5 minutes and send all of these services a tweet telling them to add support for BitsharesX and/or Bitassets! It literally takes 2 minutes if you have a Twitter account, so please go do it!

Nice resources, sent out some fb posts / tweets to those entities. I also reached out to Justcoin about researching into BitSharesX / BitAssets to possibly list on their exchange in the future.

Nice, I will be adding some more exchanges and adding some missions for services that are already on the list soon. I don't want to overwhelm everyone, so I'll probably only do one update a day. :)

General Discussion / Re: bitUSD for all bitshares DAC?
« on: September 06, 2014, 10:45:31 pm »
it would only be a second way to pay

- why would it bad?

This is a controversial matter, but I get where he's coming from and it is something that needs to be considered. The argument is that how DACs and dApps derive their value is through tokens issued for their services. By giving people a gateway in-between DACs they wouldn't have to buy that DACs token to use it, and could affect its value in the market.

Gateways in-between DACs might also be somewhat unfair to say... someone that wants in on future DACs and buys a lot of PTS for a future snap shot. Along with the possible price implications that could come with it, all the possible implications should be thought through thoroughly before implementing cross chain transactions.

Sure, it would be convenient, but if it killed the value of future future DAC tokens it might not be a good idea.
