Title: Candidate Billboards
Post by: Stan on June 02, 2014, 02:25:24 pm
I would suggest that this thread be used by all candidates to display a single post (that they can edit over time) representing a summary of the case for voting for them.

A poor-man's "yellow pages" directory of candidate "ads".

Amazon edit: please ask questions in other topics, any unrelated replies will be deleted to keep this thread clear.

Delegate positions will be far more significant roles than is yet foreseen in the minds of men.

Prepare now, for there remains but little time.

Hey there,

I am an active (and for the last few weeks, very active) user on this board. As you can see
from my userid I joined in 'the early days' and still stick around as this is one of the nicest
communities around. Further, the ecosystem behind bitshares is fascinating and the technical
ideas BM has and implements are awesome.
For the trust: Hm, I guess I am trustworthy, as I did some successful trade on this board, and
BTT (trust ratings). If you want to know more about me in person, I am not hiding my real name
(as some of you already know) but I also do not post my private details publicly (+except on
my own webpage, which can be found via my username :-)  )

For the moment I will host bitshares on a vMachine of my dedicated server:
Server: dedicated, 8 GB RAM, 2TB disk, 4 CPUs
Location: Germany

Hello everybody! We are team Bitsapphire.

See our special landing page for our delegate bid here: http://bitsapphire.com/Bitshares-Delegate/

We are a team of web developers, designers, and engineers offering lower cost, agile, high quality "Teams as a Service" to early stage companies. We want to double down on the Bitshares Toolkit and become the go-to team for any DAC related web/mobile apps.

We have been experimenting with the Bitshares Delegate server and we intend to represent in the final system all stakeholders who want to see real user friendly apps developed on top of the Bitshares ecosystem! We intend to use all our profits to develop these apps so that Bitshares can get additional momentum.

A vote for us is a vote for the future of the Bitshares ecosystem! Lets get this started!

We will update our site and this thread as the Dry-run test continue.

Current setup:

Server:

If this is not up to specs we can bumb the server to 32GB of RAM and whatever disk space is needed. The server is located in Kosovo's biggest server farm.

Location: Kosovo

The party has just started :)

Backup power generator planned.
Internet via 2 different ISP(s).

Ability to quickly allocate more hardware and/or increase the bandwidth if needed.

I've been software developer for many years - http://lnkd.in/nPbhxG
I believe I have the ability to maintain a delegate node (And I'm not alone in this. Details will follow.).

Initially 100% of the earnings will be used to ensure maximum performance, reliability and fault tolerance of the node(s).
All earnings/spendings records will be publicly available.
The users will be able to vote and discuss on how to spend the earnings.

I would like to make promises, but until we know the full equipment requirements and full scope of expectations a delegate needs to meet for minimal performance, I shall hold off.  In other words, I am not going to promise the moon if it's not attainable.

I am just an average guy.
I live in Northern California.
I have access and funds to get the node up and running.
Depending on DPOS system requirements, will determine what service provider I will use for a VPS.
I own AGS and PTS (and BTS soon!)
I am still currently mining PTS, even in this dismal network difficulty.
I believe in Bitshares X and see it as the future hub of all markets!

Thank you for you consideration!

Want to be a Bitshares Delegate? If I like what you bring to the table, I will be glad to consider helping you in ways such as:

--Possible partnership. If you are technically skilled, I can help push your candidacy. I'm not looking for 50%, but a much smaller chunk.
OR
--My endorsement of your candidacy.
AND/OR
--Rental of this space for your own advertising billboard.

PTS accepted here, though I'm most interested in supporting a candidate who has a deep commitment to Bitshares. If interested, inquire within (PM me). I'm a lot nicer than a Corleone.

My main motivation will be to serve as a delegate that behaves how the majority of shareholders would like.  Profit will be a purely secondary objective, although nice of course.

delegate name: alecmenconi

Currently have it running on a local server:
16GB RAM
256 SSD
US West Coast
150Mb/s Down : 20Mb/s Up

Will monitor and migrate to VPS if there seem to be any issues.

I'm a longtime follower of Bitcoin who decided against both buying and mining Bitcoin back in 2011 as I didn't quite believe in it, still kicking myself for that! Bitshares and Invictus are two major reasons I've finally jumped back in, and I've been following them very closely over the last few months. I narrowly missed the first snapshot, but am now a holder of both PTS and AGS.

IRL I'm an aeronautical engineer with a passion for computers and programming, I hope to work on a website for delegates with stats and maybe an Android app.

I'm already up and running as a delegate on the test net, once we go live I'll either host it on my own server here in France with a 1gb fibre connection and SSD, or rent a VPS.

Not necessarily, I can imagine there being some groups with a proven track record who have multiple nodes in different locations or for difference purposes (dividends or dev fund? you decide! etc)

I don't have a VPS, but I do have a HTPC which is on 24/7.

Hardware: A10 7850K / 8GB RAM / 64 GB SSD / 1TB HDD
Software: Running windows, I can easily setup a linux VM on it.
Location: Netherlands
Internet connection: 180mbps down and 18mbps up

If need be, I can also setup a Digital Ocean and/or Amazon server.

I have the time to keep up with each version of the network and I know how to set up the client.

Currently running the client on my laptop which is also on 24/7:
Hardware: i7 2675QM / 16 GB RAM / No SSD at the moment
Software: Mac OS X 10.9 and the latest client compiled from source as of 1 hour ago.
Location/internet connection: Same as above.

vote for me in the current test network:

Code: [Select]

I have been following this project since last year, fascinated by the concept and it's potential. Actively participating in discussions and testing. Hosting a delegate node on VPS server, rented from bitvps.com.

Code: [Select]
wallet_set_delegate_trust_level bitcoiners     1
 wallet_set_delegate_trust_level bitcoiners-1  1
 wallet_set_delegate_trust_level blockchainer 1

I will likely migrate delegate nodes onto cloud hosting servers in diverse geographical locations.

Your support/vote is much appreciated and will make the network more secure. It is very importand for the network security to vote for 1)trusted 2)individuals
that are preferable located on 3)different Country's and have 4)great equipment. So take a look on my sub.account delegates:

delegate.liondani                   (2 personal Linux servers located at my home in Greece)*
germany.delegate.liondani    (VPS located in Germany)**
greece.delegate.liondani       (VPS located in Greece)
charity.delegate.liondani       (The only delegate with 100% pay rate for obvious reasons)***

PS All sub account delegates (except the charity delegate as mentioned) have always a pay rate of 5% under the "Average active delegate pay rate" !!!
so for example if at any moment the "average active delegate pay rate" is 70% I guarantee that my sub accounts will never exceed 65% pay rate  ;)
If you are still not satisfied with the sub account pay rate policy you can always vote for the parent account delegate liondani that will never exceed 5% pay rate !!!

Servers Characteristics

OS              :  Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon 64-bit
Processor   :  Intel Pentium CPU G3220 @ 3.00GHz x 2

I'll run and maintain a node in the cloud wherever in the world it makes sense to do so. When it becomes feasible I will set up multiple nodes in geographically diverse locations to provide the best node location in the event of network disturbance! Take that!

I'm trustworthy - I pay out of my own pocket for the Beyond Bitcoin podcast hosting and have no intention of advertising on the platform. I'm motivated as an idealist and evangelist.

I've proven myself reliable and hard working.

I'm attempting to develop a media identity. The title"Bitshares Delegate" will provide mutual credibility to myself and the Bitshares project. The same goes for anyone in the media sphere.
