We need to support those who desire to work for Bitshares with passion and enthusiasm.  The cost of a paid delegate right now is very minimal, and the dilution provided by one delegate is negligible in comparison with the other selling and the merger dilution.  (And most of them don't sell anyway).  For such a small investment we gain so much, we gain someone with experience and valuable connections, who can help be another public face of Bitshares, bringing media attention and business partnerships into our community.

In the past several month we have had only a few new faces show up with the fire to work for Bitshares, and with the knowledge and experience needed to have an impact.  KenCode is one of those people, and we need to support him.

Many of us cannot work for Bitshares in much capacity, we do not have the time free to devote ourselves to this.  For those of us who cannot build Bitshares ourselves, we must find those who can and reward them for their efforts, and sustain them with our encouragement.  Our votes do this.  Even if the pay is so low that it is mostly symbolic at this point,  it is our show of support that is most important right now.

Ken has already brought us media attention in the form of cointelegraph articles and more, and is working on several projects to improve Bitshares, such as the DNS collaboraiton with other coins, translating videos, and more.  But in my view the biggest thing he brings is his business connections and experience.  If we gain even a single business partnership which helps Bitshares as a result, it is well worth the money.

With a passionate and devoted community of people working to improve Bitshares we can achieve anything, and without it we are nothing.  Please vote to support those working hard for Bitshares!

It's not often it's other community members starting threads about voting for certain delegates. Pretty strong testimony.

KenCode is clearly the new blood we need. He won't get much money through it, but he clearly deserves a delegate.

Voted (but most of my funds have disappeared or are still in shorts, so it's not like it'll have any effect)

Thanks, Might just do that. I'm contemplating building a site based on delegate ratings, kind of like gettapp . com, a kind of ratings and comparisons site. I can envisage at some point the bitshares eco system might just need such tools. Just thinking out loud.

So just to be clear your stance is that it's lies? Does that include the news reports as well?

Here's a quick synopsis of my bio (http://kenCode.de/bio) regarding the left-wing anti-gun "news" you mention.
I started a Gun School in florida and ran it for about 3 years. Self-funded.
Hundreds of 5-star reviews on google, #1 on google, over 3,600 students in less than 3 years.
Small town, seasonal business.
Corrupt sheriff (flying you know what in and out of his own, taxpayer funded airstrip).
I was never a cop. I hired cops (and a non-cop martial arts black belt) to train the populace in police tactics.
It turned out the sheriff and my biggest competitor were buddies.
The sheriff also had his thumb on all the local media.
The sheriff had a multi-million dollar (PUBLIC) gun range that we were not allowed to use.
I held a protest, they locked the gates.
In my bio I also show the sheriff's lies, all documented.
I also link to my letters to top florida officials exposing him.
He sent his goons to shut me down because I switched to police-issue Simunition ammunition which florida statutes fully supported.
This allowed me to build my own indoor shooting range, fully to spec, florida statutes.
Since they had nothing, he stepped it up and had the div of licensing revoke my personal license.
They tried to steal my students records, find out who owned what guns, barged in numerous times busting up our classes.
Strange phone calls.
It got worse from there, so I grabbed my family and we got out of dodge.
It is my belief that the us government is coming for all the guns and gun shops in america.
I didn't back down which made it worse.

Ya know, this might be good a time as any.. Precious Metals.
Until just a few years ago, they were our best alt for freedom.
I also know however that the primary mines are owned by just a few families.

I walked in a PM shop a few weeks ago and the guy practically ran me out of the store as soon as he heard the word "crypto". It was insane, the guy said crypto has no value, you "can't even hold it in your hand" blah blah blah, he basically assaulted me, pushing me out the door.

How do I turn a hardcore PM supporter to crypto?

Follow the money? Tell them you are going to increase their sales.. they will listen. :)

Regarding the materials online about Kens past dealings.. I have read through a lot of them myself.. the reddit thread is probably most telling of others who questioned him on the same stuff and in the end they did not find him to be 'scamming' anybody... also this is gun Ken.. not lotto Ken.. though they have same name, one is on the other side of the world.

Having been through a media hurricane myself.. I mostly came out of it on top.. but I saw first hand also how the media can sometimes not always been 'investigative' in their reporting and tell one sided stories that caused a few pieces about me to come out looking nasty.. I just had to wait it out until I was able to win in court and turn it all around... and I did in a big way.. even my local Chamber of Commerce was raving to all members about the recent news of my court win so everyone knew the nasty version few months prior said about me was not true.

For Ken.. sounds like his situation didn't allow for that.. or perhaps he didn't find the right channel.. either way.. look at the whole story and judge for yourself.. I can understand trepidation of some.. but remember that Walt Disney himself went bankrupt several times before finally creating Disney Land.. failing doesn't make you a scammer.. but the internet certainly gives vehicles to competition to do nasty things like you see here today.. and at the end of it all.. we just have to keep our wits about us to judge fairly with all things considered.

Before anybody suggests I am partial because we are managing the delegate server resources.. I would have no problem canceling on him and shutting down service if I had reasonable grounds to believe he was doing wrong and would bring harm to bitshares.

Given what is following him here I think all of us can agree we will be keeping an even closer eye on him.. so if he is sticking around under that kind of scrutiny.. then don't relax.. just keep it in mind in judging fairly towards him and what he is doing with bitshares.

Hope this make sense to others.

Nailed it.

Thanx for the tip on Precious Metals, too, but that guy was just in a bad mood or something, he pushed me out the front door so fast I had no chance to present him with anything. I have a feeling I'm not the first crypto guy to enter his shop. Next time, I'll take the Web Wallet with me and show him. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right angle to pitch a certain demographic or market sector.

Ya know, anybody who has built up successful businesses in the past, knows what it's like to have ugly competition. Most stick to themselves and just do their best to build their businesses honestly, building their reputation in the community and such. It can be a vicious, dirty game sometimes however. A competitor will do whatever they can to slander you and call you names, but in the end,

Those of us who do good, work hard and show our efforts are the ones who are ultimately rewarded.

OK I got that kenCode made a 15 feet (almost 5 meter long)  'carpet fortified' room and called it  'air-conditioned indoor-range' all in a fair effort so his trainees can shoot  blanks (at a target ??) and more importantly so he can print money.

The part I am not so clear about is:

- Do you consider (as a community) such behavior - good business sense or deceiving practices?

- Is such innovative person a good PR for Bitshares or not?

Simunitions (the ammo we used in the Glock) come in lethal (they will go right thru you like butter) and non-lethal versions. Primer, gun powder, projectile, the real deal. My competition (and his sheriff buddy) was pissed that we got approved for it too. The few customers that he got were forced to stand out in the weeds in the hot florida humidity. Not fun. He was an ex-cop himself, yet another reason why he was so pissed at the way I built up our business so quickly. Thousands of customers, hundreds of 5-star reviews on google (except for his 1-star review lol)- that says a lot about the safe, comfortable atmosphere that our school provided. It's impossible to get women to go to a gun school if it's gonna be a scary experience. You have to make them feel safe first, comfortable, then educate. For some of them, it was their husbands that *made* them come to our school too, but after leaving, they were our greatest sales force. Show them the value in a safe comfortable setting and they become your greatest assets.

Actually, you can see that they still have Gun School listed on their website (http://simunition.com/en/range_program/united_states/Florida). Our entire staff had to be interviewed, trained and certified for its use and the police officers that worked for me had to go thru the exact same requirements. The shooting range that I had built had 3 lanes in a large carpeted room (to keep the noise down, comfort, etc). I was also having these custom bullet traps designed for the sim rounds, but the photo doesn't show those bullet traps. Anyways, if you have ever fired a Glock 9mm, you know it's no joke. We used their "FX" (non-lethal) and "CQT" rounds (lethal) both.

I'll say it again, like I said it at last nights BitShares Munich meetup: I have NO desire to be interviewed by the media. I will continue to bring media to BitShares as an Agent, but I would much rather have Stan, Dan or fuzzy close them. I doubt they have a rough past like me; something that a media person could use against us.

My "job" here at BitShares is pretty obvious. I'm working here over 12 hours per day, 7 days per week. Look at my Delegate Proposal, look at my threads here, my twitter, disqus and g+ posts. Just the wiki's and video work alone I'm doing will bring us the international communities that I don't see any other crypto startup aggressively pursuing. Go wide, not niche. It's easier to get your numbers up when your audience is much larger. The harder I work, the more we all will come out on top. That's what I do, I build successful companies, I bring the numbers. I've done it, I'm doing it, and I don't think it's too much to ask for a vote of confidence, a little love in return.

Hi Ken - feel free not to answer this question as it may be too personal (and I'm sorry if it is). Are your wife/gf and daughter with you in Germany or are you there by yourself? I already voted for your delegate - so this is more of a subjective character question. Again - feel free to decline. Thank you.

There is no such thing as bad publicity

As far as I'm concerned BitShares needs Ken's past experience as the Underdog.

According to http://coinmarketcap.com/ (http://coinmarketcap.com/) we are not heading in the correct direction. BitShares is no favourite to win at this market value.

Quote
Always back the Underdog  or outsider for which the odds are generally higher.

BitShares needs time and effort which Ken is providing.

You have my vote and you are staying on my slate.

It has been asked, WHY I am "wasting time" creating multi-lingual subtitles for the BitShares TV videos right now..

#1 SEO and search

A: Search engines can't "watch" or "listen" to a video. Instead they rely on the associated text to learn what the video is about. Adding captions supplies YouTube and Google with a much deeper understanding about the video. Captions allow search engines to index all of the spoken content, making the video easier to find and more likely to appear in search results.

B: Data also shows that captions make a video more engaging and viewers are more likely to watch the video to the end. Retention is everything.

#2 Accessibility

A: In the U.S. alone there are 50 million people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Adding captions is a simple way to reach this large audience who would otherwise struggle to understand what is said.

B: Captions are also legally required for federal government agencies, organizations that take federal subsidies, most public educational institutions (finance classes, broker courses, investing clubs, etc), and certain types of commercial entities.

C: They allow people to view your videos in sound-sensitive environments (ie: in the workplace, a library, or noisy locations).

#3 Other benefits

A: Captions help with comprehension and are a great resource for viewers who know English as a second language.

B: Another reason is to reach a global audience through translation.

If you know a second language, please help me!

I had a very nice skype chat with @iHashFury today and we may be onto something here. During the mumble yesterday he mentioned amazon to me. He is very good at selling on amazon and might be able to expand upon our affiliate program I mentioned.

Neither of us have this all figured out yet, the api's and logistics for this affiliate program are pretty intense, but here's what we're thinking..

The affiliate shopping cart that will be going on to the new BitShares Munich website will gather your public_key via the a= parameter (example only: bitshares-munich.de/#shop?a=your_public_key) that you pass in. Now we know who the affiliate is that sent us the sale (you). You post that link in your blog, website, social posts, etc. Someone clicks it and becomes a customer with us. That customer orders a product from us and pays us in Smartcoin. At that moment, the order is then automatically sent to the manufacturer. They drop-ship it right to the customer via our UPS worldship account. The customer signs for the package. UPS sends the tracking number so we have proof the customer got their products. After the 30 day returns period has lapsed, the 99% net profit then goes directly to the affiliate (you) automatically. Payouts can be daily this way. We will not hold any inventory and the entire process is automated with our logo on the box (not the manufacturers). If the customer wants a refund or exchange (within the 30 day returns period), the entire process takes place again, but in reverse. Our website api will handle this as well so no human can screw it up.

So, posting links with your affiliate (public key) is easy, right? Right.

Now, here's where it gets really cool. You could do the same process, and have your amazon store (or ebay, google, yahoo stores, etc) selling and promoting our products for you as well. iHashFury says there is 2 different ways that amazon lets you do this too. Granted, amazon will take their cut from you (15% I guess), but this would get BitShares POS systems out there even faster. 8)

Hi all, please vote for Ken's delegate (delegate.kencode) and supoort his great work!
I can personally say, I work with him every day and Ken is currently networking with people from all over the world, famous people too, for the BTS Munich Expo.
He is also developing the BitShares POS and other Apps which will sell globally, and allow everyone to make a 99% affiliate bonus on every system you sell. This will be a major change for all of us. Ken has hired a few external coders to help him out too, I guess these are expensive too.
Unfortunately he is too busy  right now so you might not see him in the forum much. Since i work with him for  a while now i can say he is working hard behind the scenes, not less 12-16 hours every day for Bitshares, 7 days a week. Just skype him if you want to know more.
What ever happened here, we need to bring Ken back into the 101. He needs every support he gets so please vote for Ken's delegate.
Thank you.

Thank you @Chris4210X :)

..then hopefully it's on to the React Language Selector. This allows outside parties to translate all of the pages in our sites (and BitShares POS) to any language easily (so I don't have to keep doing it). Also coding this one in React.

..here's a rough beta of the new site that will be selling the BitShares POS systems:
http://bitshares-munich.evennode.com

that new site will also be offering an affiliate program. so, if you link to a product in our online shop, you get 99% of the net profit on that item. real-time drop-shipped white-label UPS shipping api integrated too. what better way to get the BitShares POS systems globally distributed, right?

jquery was great, but I have upgraded almost all of our code to react.js already. So, imagine going to the checkout counter and not having to wait for more than 1 second to pay for your items. Real-time is the only way to go IMO and the BitShares POS systems will be exactly that. react.js, io.js, koa and socket.io. some images:

Please vote in my Delegate --let's get 2.0 and BitShares POS done already, thank you :)

Please pm me, I can provide you with some business tips that will help you get people signed up. I'd also like to hear your thoughts on the migrant crisis here. When I was homeless I formed strong relations with all of the people at the Bahnhofsmission, Heilsarmee, Teestube, etc.

No pm please, I want that everyone can read what we are doing.

Migrants, I support them by buying their weed and show them BitShares.

I love Afrika, Asia, the whole world and to smoke with them in the park is the quality life.

Btw, Ken, found this community who meets at Munich it seems http://mnug.de/topics.html They'll talk about something Ripple related so it's a good starting point to stablish new connections and bring in new users to your Expo.

They're looking for speakers if it's node.js related http://mnug.de/speakers.html

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vieg-WzWtLc

There's an awesome chance of bringing in new people

I finally got to chat with a couple guys at La'Zooz (the decentralized rideshare app that rivals Uber). The leader of their group is totally sold on Ethereum and NuBits.

I offered them a free exhibitor booth at the BitShares Munich Expo, free promotional service within the BitShares community if they create a "LAZOOZ" UIA with us and, a chance to Speak at the Expo getting them all kinds of attention (Uber got shut out here, so this alternative would be a media explosion for them).

The LAZOOZ UIA would allow them/us to raise money for their Dapp at minimal cost.

Anyone here want to give it a shot? http://LaZooz.org

sold on Ethereum and the NuBits ponzi.
insider hint: If you don't call them ponzi, they may eventually buy some BTS and vote for you

LaZooz is definitely an interesting project worth a look. Unfortunatelly their whitepaper is quite hard to read (white and blue on yellow??!?)

Yeah, good point. I removed that word. The bts blog used that word so my fingers just typed out what I read there, sorry.

I'm thinkin that the La'Zooz guys are just so involved with their project that they just haven't seen what else is out there now. A UIA with us, especially a dirt cheap 6 character "LAZOOZ" UIA is an easy decision. If they want to raise money and awareness (let alone the Expo) just invest the 30 bucks or so and get it registered.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UnldiptL8n5o1iWIEMhrSfh1f6OpOUkqPMtfZXO8xpU/edit

Helping with a video for CCEDK's new website.

I created my first UIA this weekend for the BitShares POS systems. It's not tradeable yet until I have my next meeting this week with Winheller, but nonetheless this cashflow will allow us to speed up the coding and integrate with way more platforms than just Odoo and Quickbooks.

React.js apps are coming along slowly (this development will speed up as more funds become available).

Which reminds me, Traders, please help me get some volume into bitEUR, bitSILVER and bitGOLD. (I'll tell you why later)

@Stan will be announcing our other major project in a couple of weeks after its UIA is tradeable and we have the beta to show off (@fuzzy we'd like to hold a mumble then, regarding our top 3 projects).

Nice going, Ken!

By the way, you mentioned during the mumble session today that you're waiting for more funds to get going with the point of sale equipment.  Have you considered simply creating a POS app that can be used on a tablet?
Title: Re: Please vote for KenCode's delegate

Thank you @tbone :)

Yes, the software runs on tablets (html5, css3, reactjs). Most of our stuff is back-end, but pos system manufacturers also have App Stores where they can resell the BitShares POS App so having these features available, make it a no brainer for the buyer. Having it modular allows the customer to disable the features they won't use too.

Having our own hardware is way down the road (unless or market cap pops to a billion), right now I am focused on getting the react.js apps built that integrate with the pos software. Having it modular like this makes it a lot easier to integrate with these third party pos system apps like Odoo, Quickbooks etc. These systems will be sold at the Expo. Check out the details:

Ken I see the price is 99e for the Expo, does that include the two days or only one? If it includes the 2, may I suggested you do another price for a one day ticket. Could be something like 49 or 59e. It could attract more people to at least one day if they can't afford both. This assuming the 99e ticked is for the 2 days.
Title: Re: Please vote for KenCode's delegate
Post by: kenCode on September 19, 2015, 02:05:09 pm
Well, the price as it sits right now is for the 2 days, but everything we have on there right now is tentative until we sign the actual contract with the facility and caterer (which we have not chosen yet). The ticket price is based on averages right now. Chris is helping with that part since he has some awesome connections in the University scene.

We were going to hold the Expo at a Hotel conference space, but we found that we can get a much better deal on a University auditorium since that University will also be a Sponsor and Exhibitor.

As for the ticket pricing itself, my thoughts now are that we will put the tickets up as a limited quantity UIA. This would allow the community to resell them at the best price they can get and in turn helps us with getting the word out. CoinTelegraph is helping out a TON in this area, but I am hoping we might spread the ticket sales profits across the community for those that want to help out, hence the UIA. At that point, I think we can leave it up to the scalper (er, I mean reseller) to sell them as either 1-day or 2-day passes.

Of course, Christian committed all the react accordion code to my github a couple weeks ago, Cole has the reactjs ticker almost done (bitshares-munich.evennode.com), then in a few days he will push the reactjs slider as well. I managed to hire a third js guy David (new to reactjs though) to get the language selector done too. He has till friday to get the first commit up. Once those last few jquery things have been replaced then i am moving the guys into the affiliate cart code for the website. These little react apps may not seem like much but once we tie all this into graphene/openledger it will automate the entire sales process and logistics (pmnt processing, shipping the pos systems, tracking, customer support, etc). If you need, I can email you the different views files, app.js, package.json, options.js, etc. We upgraded to io.js 3.3.0 with koa too, runs frign awesome so far. If you can give us a hand in the code, please say so. Fair warning tho, I can only afford about 20 bucks a day tho. Much appreciated if you can though, thanx Xeroc :)

I am not yet familiar with react .. thought of "backend" a different way ..

You mentioned you want to integrate with odoo. Are you at that stage yet?
Title: Re: Please vote for KenCode's delegate

me neither, but reading the guy's code often enough, it's still just javascript when it all comes down to it. almost all last week i spent in skype calls and stuff with Expo work, but they do check in regularly so i have a good couple guys (Christian was fast, Cole is busy on the ticker and slider, and David.. well, not sure if david is gonna make it though. i have so little that i can pay these guys, i have to be incredibly patient. that's tough for me.

the backend all sits at evennode (and in my Atom IDE). once each little app is completed, it gets pushed to my github and published to my npmjs.com account (1 so far). Odoo (geoffrey) is waiting on me:

Accordion (done), ticker (almost done), slider (a few days work), jawbone (maybe), affiliate shopping cart using graphene, and then we can use that code with geoffrey at Odoo (all open source as well).

This week is going to be crazy busy.
I have meetings with Winheller (the largest crypto-savvy accounting, tax and legal firm in Europe), our first tests of the BitShares POS code will take place (at the dev's house in Romania), another CoinTelegraph article about 2.0 will be published, the video for one of the BitShares Partners should be launched (i did the voiceovers for it too), I meet with the VC firm that (hopefully) will Speak at and help Sponsor the Expo, work with Cole to finish up the BitShares Ticker, Slider and responsive code for the website that will be selling the POS systems and other devices, get started on the affiliate code for the shopping cart of the site (this allows everyone here to make 99% of the net profits of the sale of one of the POS systems or anything else that is offered in the online shop) and if all goes well, make the formal announcement of one of the other major BitShares projects we have been working on.

edit: as per request just now, removed the Partner name above to keep their launch a bit more under wraps

On the table for this week, we will be posting another article on CoinTelegraph (see above) and this one will cover the 2.0 features, holding a meeting with Winheller (300€) for documented legal, tax and accounting info, finishing the setup of our first UIA to raise funds for further development (including Bitshares-branded hardware!), working with the developers and getting the demo video of the POS software produced (hopefully) before the 13th (so you guys can see it in action!), finalizing the fee structure and payouts for the affiliate program and uia owners (so uia holders can also earn from every customer transaction at the terminal), more social media posts, and of course adding more speakers and exhibitors for the Expo:

https://news.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-2015-final-countdown/

BitPay, the leading Bitcoin payment service provider, has teamed up with Ingenico, a company that manufactures point of sale terminals (POS). The companies are expected to release the Ingenico terminal ICT250, announcing it on October 6 at the Blockchain Week in Barcelona. BitPay developed the platform and installed it on the Ingenico terminal, and hopes to achieve more than just e-commerce sales. The company will be competing against CoinKite, which produces a Bitcoin POS terminal as well. This is exciting news for the brick and mortar venues looking to accept the digital currency.

thought this might be interesting since you're into POS too

Interesting, thanx Akado :)
Manufacturing of POS terminals is down the road a bit, but I intend to leverage the millions that already use products like quickbooks and odoo, get our app available on their existing platforms.
Essentially, POS systems have just become tablets with thermal printers and scanners, etc. Hundreds of companies make that stuff which leaves us with a lot of options for the equipment we choose if we go our own route.

Software is the way to go in the beginning, brings our stuff to the masses much quicker and at lower cost :)
Thanx for the link tho Akado!
