Can anyone confirm it's being recorded?

The only reason bitshares is not as well known has little to do with a lack of marketing and pr imho.
The problem is that the entire pow community either bashes and sells fud about the technology constantly or outright ignores it like its ron paul at a republican convention. Obviously the best candidate, but too disruptive to even those interested in disruption.
Imho...bitshares is not compatible with overstock regardless. Why? Because overstock is not going to give anything to pts/ags.
However for anyome thinkin this isnt competiton...do you really think overstock is foing to accept bitUSD now?
No not imo. I like the general strategy here & I see the value of pegged assets for that market but there's also significant negative mainstream PR & other blowback risk - Think public perception of Bitcoin & Silk Road + other outcomes. However BitAssets are out in the wild so nothing to stop other people using and integrating them.
I see your point but lets not forget the entire Bitcoin community is behind OpenBazaar. For the time being, it doesn't have a negative stigma; quite the opposite actually. All I3 has to do is make it easy for BitUSD to be integrated into an OB merchant node. That means improving multisig and eliminating any other obstacles that may get in the way. Once that's out of the way...
a) We crowdfund the necessary development.
OR
b) An I3 dev anonymously commits the code on GitHub.
We can actually avoid all negative backlash if we frame this as "BitUSD allows OpenBazaar to attract non-drug users because they're the only people willing to put up with Bitcoins volatility". And it's true. OpenBazaar needs our product (or our competitors) if they want mainstream adoption and we need a solid showcase if WE want mainstream adoption. The good vastly outweighs the bad.
There it is.
The Headline We'd Get: Open Bazaar and BitUSD help drug dealers hedge against crypto volitility
If they only knew the system already exists.

Open bazaar is great but a small userbase that even if we grab 100% it would be insignificant in the next few years.
Ok so back on topic.I don't think this is the best use of opportunity cost, especially considering the precedent it will set. I think in terms of marketing, we should be thinking more along the lines of strategic seeding. Fortunately for us we've already got a great model to imitate: Bitcoin.
- What sort of demographic would this attract?
- How "sticky" would said demographic be?
- What unique things could this demographic buy with BitUSD that they otherwise couldn't buy with FiatUSD?
So, my question for the community is: what were the tipping points of early Bitcoin adoption?
In my opinion it isn't that they can buy different things with BitUSD, it is that they can use BTSX *like a bank* and all banks have checking accounts and savings account. Almost all checking accounts have a "check card".
Then our target market will be merchants... convince them to take BitUSD directly rather than pay 3%... merchants can then share the savings with customers.
Yes, I have invite only dinners and lunch meetings set up for all three days we're there, with the only purpose being to meet with key players in the industry. I'm currently in LA doing the same thing today (meeting with BitShares' attorney) and attending the LA Bitcoin Job Fair tomorrow to rub shoulders with the who's who of SoCal.
That really is our core strategy at these events....to build relationships. Because that's where everything starts, with people doing business with people they like and know.
Of course we'll also be getting Dan on stage, me and him doing countless interviews, tracking every single press person like a bloodhound, handing out free shirts (collective groan), collecting business cards, etc....etc....
Should be fun! B
Most of the "marketing plan" is in providing the on-ramps that allow FIAT to flow into BTSX and then driving eyeballs to those on-ramps.
Spending money driving eyeballs to a highway with no onramps lowers your conversion rate and effectiveness.
So we need make sure the highway is in good repair and the onramps are easy.
