Title: web wallet like counterwallet.io?
Post by: jsidhu on May 06, 2015, 06:11:28 pm
do we have a web wallet like this counterwallet.io?

Is it possible to redirect to this wallet to do payments instead of the BTS client for average joes to save the blockchain download process? Say they go through metaexchange to get coins and send it to their web wallet address and then pay via their web wallet.

Moonstone will be this?

wallet.bitshares.org ?

counterwallet.io feels really smooth and fast. Our wallet is a bit sluggish in comparison, e.g. when displaying the market preview graphs.

Also they have a great domain name dedicated to their wallet. btswallet.io would be a great name for our one.

What about a pi staker hw wallet that would connect you via browser plugin? consumers would be able to do 1 click buying and confirming on bitshare purchases. In this case there is no central web wallet hosted.. now you have a decentralized wallet on the pi device you can connect to, and the browser plugin connects to via RPC.

This way people with pi hw devices will not need to download blockchain or anything.

Off topic but namecoin perhaps is failing?.. http://cointelegraph.com/news/114129/why-namecoin-didnt-take-off-a-cautionary-tale
I've not held out much hope for it in a long while.. I expect others, potentially BitShares DNS will have a lot more success making it useable.

It would be a centralized service... perhaps if delegates run it makes sense.. but the cool thing is that anyone can connect to the single wallet and use their own accounts (and import based on their pvt key)... it relies on some protocol changes in bitcoin so it would be a little bit of work to port that stuff over to bitshares but I dont see why not... its just RPC calls.. and porting bitcoin stuff to bitshares.

If we want to stay decentralized better approach is to have hardware wallets with synchronized blockchains OOTB and sync up to tip and/or uses cloud to sync blockchain then prunes and copies to hw wallet... this way we keep with decentralized model and everyone has their own wallet interface on a hw device.. if its connected, merchants can redirect to a url that the local webwallet is running on to do payments so ecommerce would be a lot nicer. No need for a URI scheme that opens qt application. This would offload storage and bandwidth to the hardware aswell as keeping everything cross platform through web interfaces. Downside is you have to buy the hw wallet from someone who makes it.. perhaps we offer some at cost to get going.. as it offers the optimized bitshares experience.
