Great job!

Now stuff it all in the top post with a uniform style and a little clickable index.  :D

General Discussion / Re: Allocation of Resources from AGS donations
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:38:22 pm »
What you suggest is exactly what we are doing.   :)

Well, lets see: You have around 10k PTS in bounties. The logs account for perhaps 3k PTS and 100 BTC. Meanwhile you're getting around 3k PTS and 50 BTC each day in AGS donations; for the first 20 days that's a total of 60k PTS and 1000 BTC.

Bytemaster revealed that 10% will go to marketing, which is the first major statement of allocation I've seen. Other than that I'm sure you guys have a rough plan for how to allocate the remaining 40k PTS and 900 BTC, not to mention how to spend the income from the remaining 180 days.

What I'm suggesting is that it's ridiculously difficult to spend the kind of money you're getting in an efficient way. Part of the reason is that 10 PTS here and 10 PTS there could do amazing things if used creatively. Fortunately, this is the kind of creativity a community can help provide.

On reflecting some more on this, I think you should actually give out bounties for 1) efficient and creative ways to use money and 2) designing a budget plan for the coming year.

It is strategic to bring up if their allocation is unfair and wasteful. It is also strategic to bring up the extent to which their funding and development has been done in secret. In general you should try to imagine a few responses they might make to each question and think of a rebuttal to each.

The biggest concern you have for them is with scalability. Now here the important point is partly to get the average person to understand what the problem is. If you provide a technical analysis of a flaw, and they provide a technical rebuttal, then the audience will think of it as a "controversy" beyond their powers of assessment. However, if you are right and can lift the discussion  into common sense, then you will have the upper hand.

I like it!!

Get Fiat <-> PTS up as quickly as possible, and publicize the site by promising support of and helping to explain the new DACs market; that way you can ride on the Invictus community and the Invictus promotion wave that is coming (now) to gain exposure. Team up with buypts.com? Gogo MVP. /2cents

General Discussion / Re: Charity DAC

"the purpose of this DAC would be to fund CENTRALIZED charity rather than decentralized charity,"
"group trap"

Good points!

"rather than focus on treating symptoms"
"honoring of property rights and equal opportunity"

Medium good points! Sometimes one has to deal with symptoms. Likewise there does seem to be some tension between honoring property rights and equal opportunity.

"All life forms must produce more than they consume or they will die"

I think we should be careful with this quick abstraction. If we define life as necessarily productive then of course non-productive will be non-life, but then it becomes a triviality. Consider "survival of the fittest." When we look at species, they are fit in all kinds of ways, to the point where the word "fit" just means whatever it takes to survive, which makes the original statement circular. The range of life reminds us how impossible it is to intuit in advance the possible forms of survival, e.g. the strength of intelligence, the capital of non-profit organizations, the power of non-violence, etc.

Overall, 8/10 on shutting my idea down.
Back to the drawing board for me! :D

Bitcoin miners and gold diggers are joining hands all over the world!

10% is great. Can't wait to hear more about this.

It feels like one of those custom Starcraft maps where there are unlimited resources
and the first to build like a million expansions usually wins.

General Discussion / Charity DAC

X% saved for charity fund.
As much transactions fees as possible go to charity fund.
A voting system.
Designed to have an extremely fair launch.

The premine is impossible to use until the coin reaches randomly specified milestones where x sums of money will automatically be given away to the charity with the most votes. This way no one will know in advance when the price falls, small "donations" to the charitycoin will generally push the price in a positive direction leading to speculation, and ever larger donations to charity will increase the publicity of the charitycoin. Would this work? Ideas?

Call it Bitshares Charity and it would be great publicity for Invictus and  AGS/PTS holders even if we earn nothing.

Inb4 bytemaster telling me why I'm wrong and that he has written a novel on this topic. :D

There are two open doc logs tracking the Angel Account Transactions.

One for BTC and one for PTS.

I suggest the larger community is given more insight into the overall plan for allocation of these resources. I think an open discussion on this topic will benefit us all, not just in the name of transparency and healthy curiosity: Spending the amount of money flowing into AGS is difficult and requires the kind of creativity a forum discussion may help provide. What do you guys think?

If this is discussed elsewhere I recant everything.

Under BitShares Developers Conference: "intelectual property," intellectual

AGS site: "Remaining the bitshares" The remaining

I think the site can be improved by thinking hard about how to layout the order and spaces between Bitshares, Bitshares X, Bitshares conference, Keyhotee, Bitshares PTS and Bitshares AGS, and how to interface between them. They're all gems and good arrangement will bring out the true beauty of it.

I think I need to write an article titled something along the lines... "DACs vs Vending Machines"

Can *you* tell the difference?

This might be a good idea, I usually resort to that metaphor when I try to explain to people the concept of DACs. You're a good writer and speaker, but if you team up with someone to help make what you write more accessible, and perhaps a video/graphical artist, you could both get something published in a huge news outlet, and have a video reach hundreds of thousands of views.

Recent Keiser report has him screaming "2nd gen crypto," "capitalism 2.0" etc. Invictus stands for a huge idea and I think popularization can be one of the best ways to communicate this. The people on this forum are able to glimmer some of the consequences of this technology, but for the outside world the potential for transformation  and the benefits must be explicitly sold.

"better than gold"
"replacing banks"
"replacing wall-street"

What's so good about replacing gold? Banks? Wall-street?

Why should I care about what you are doing,
and why do you care so deeply? #values

General Discussion / Re: BitShares X Status Update
« on: January 21, 2014, 07:47:35 am »
Today I was pulled off of BitShares X development to focus on marketing and preps for Miami.   You can check out my latest updates to invictus.io here:

http://invictus.io/

Tell me what you think of the updated website.

Good work! I like the intro feeling.

The "Reimagine Everything" title could be more smooth (cheesy fadein?), the font seems too plain for the audacious title. The three logos (bitshares, keyhotee, and bitshares conference) could be clickable, and perhaps bitshares conferences could be placed in a separate zone below bitshares and keyhotee (the logos could perhaps be larger also). Perhaps golden ratio between earthpic and the logo space. Our studio/contact/info could be more aesthetic, it feels like a barren end to the page, and if i click the wiki there's no real interesting information. "Contact us" could be its own stylized element "contact us!"

With a pinch of salt, I am not in any way an artist, and don't even know how this would look. But these are details, it's certainly good enough now. You might use your time better on BTS!

All the best!
