General Discussion / Loaning registration fee?
« on: August 15, 2014, 09:46:30 pm »
For me it look like, one of the most frustrating thing in starting with the bitshares wallet ist to register the account. At the moment you need 1 BTSX to register the name, so some or many will download and just deinstall it, without a second thought.

so my  +5% to solve this:

1. we don't like to give it for free, because auf name squatting - thats fine.
2. could we just register without the fee for - say 4 days - in this time you have to transfer funds to your account, and the 1 btsx fee will automaticly reduced from the recieved funds! if you don't fund the account in this 4 days, your name will not registered. We can limit this doing per name for the first time, if it was not registered in this way in the first step, after this this name can only get registered with the process now used.

BitShares AGS / Re: Tutorial?
« on: August 14, 2014, 09:04:25 pm »
I'm trying to import MultiBit wallet, I donated all from there. It says to put in exact path, is this the location on my pc such as C:\users\AppData etc etc? When I put a path and hit import nothing happens, it still also says network issues and catching up on the bottom right of bitshares, which I'm not sure if I need to wait for it to sync before attempting anything either.

P.S. thanks again for helping!

Why you guys hijack my thread, trying to get help here lol. So am I doing it right? it synced but when I hit import I get no error no nothing, just doesn't work at all.

Edit: Details> I used the path of multibit for C:\Users\MyUsername\AppData\Roaming\MultiBit etc and trying importing with file name included and not included. BitsharesX is fully synced as well.

I had the same problem. I donated using both PTS and AGS before the snapshot date. The wallet import from the PTS client worked just fine and I immediately saw the balance from it in the BitShares X client. But when I tried to import the MultiBit wallet containing my AGS donation address it would just say "imported successfully" but without any change to the balance, although the AGS explorer shows I should get 57K.

To solve this I opened the MultiBit client and selected the wallet I have done the AGS donation from. Then from the MultiBit main menu I selected "Tools" --> "Export Private Keys". From there I did an export and chose not to password protect the export (otherwise the next step won't work), which created a .key file. Then I opened this file with a text editor (I am on Windows and used notepad) and copied the private key from there to the clipboard.
Now in the BitShares X client instead of "Import Wallet" I used "Import Private Key" and pasted the key from the clipboard. I left "[X] Rescan blockchain" checked and after I clicked "Import Key" the balance didn't show up immediately but after some time the transaction scanning has been in progress. It was exactly the 57K as shown on the explorer, so everything was fine now.

I don't know whether I did something wrong or the MultiBit client import is just broken (or not working yet) but either way this is another option of importing from MultiBit. Note that after you finished this process you should immediately delete the .key file again, so you don't have your private key lying around on your disk in unencrypted form.

same goes for armory. just did it yesterday. problem is only with hundreds of private keys, because armory produces a lot of them. hope they fix armory import soon or you can import privat key in a .txt file so no manuel labor is here needed anymore.

General Discussion / Re: Do I need a trading expert?
« on: August 13, 2014, 09:07:23 pm »
Hi,
soon btsx trading will start and I want to make some profits  +5% !
I don't know much, that's why I thought it might be smart to pay someone for trading advice.

Or is that not necessary and I can make some profits by reading what you all are doing and do the same?

Because I did this in the past. I was hanging out in the Ghash chat and did what the people did. I made a little profit. That's how I found this place here by the way.

stick to what you believe and don't invest too much in one idea. maybe wait a couple of days and just watch the market to understand the function in BTSX

thanks xerox

it worked, but i had to transfer 100 of privkeys, because for every transaction in armory is one generated. i could not tell wich key was used for AGS donation. i needed ages. Would be good to import more then one key at a time, or maybe there is a way i didn't know? i don't want to do it for p2p and vote again  :-X

General Discussion / Re: Moving BTSX from genesis stake
« on: August 13, 2014, 05:47:09 am »
I'll rephrase.

I claimed my BTSX by importing my private keys (protoshares) into an account I have registered in the BTSX client.
Not I have transactions from Genesis into my account.
I have not moved the BTSX from my account to another account after that. All BTSX I have in my account were "sent" to me from Genesis.

Suppose I now get a new computer, register a new account in the BTSX client, and import those same private keys (protoshares) from before into that new account. Will I have control over these same genesis BTSX, or are they now considered "Claimed" by the first BTSX account I've created?

Thanks for taking the time.

if i understand it correct you are asking if it is possible to claim the snapshot BTSX double or tripple times

i didn't tried it, but i expect with your transaction you once claimed the PTS snapshot BTSX and with the transaction "GENESIS -->your user" it is already included in the blockchain. So you can try to claim again with a other wallet but it is useless.
