General Discussion / Re: I suggest stop price feed and stop market engine
« on: January 14, 2015, 01:36:15 pm »
I think it's risky to have the primary BTS market on an external exchange. People are buying BTS on btc38 but not on the bitshares exchange itself, this can cause all sorts of weird issues.

When we're past this crash we should really do everything we can to move all BTS liquidity to the internal market, and use centralized exchanges as on/off ramps only.

Technical Support / Re: Can't see my account and block processing stalled
« on: January 14, 2015, 01:26:31 pm »
I have had the same problem for a month. Cannot access anything, it stalls on "catching up" every time I try to get the wallet to work. Reinstalling, resyncing the blockchain, putting in checkpoints, nothing works.
you have
- open connections
- free disk space
- firewall(?)

What's the output of "getinfo"? do you see the block number increase or not? are you stuck on a particular block?

I have free space and have open connections. The syncing works perfectly upon a fresh install until suddenly it just stops. It continues to have open connections and continues to appear to be syncing/downloading, but the block count doesn't increase. The stalling happens at a different block every reinstall.

Bitstamp coins and cryptodouble coins are probably getting dumped on the market. And people are starting to wisen up to the unsustainability of the grand proof of waste donation scheme that bitcoin is.

General Discussion / Re: xchain.info gateway needs feedback!

Is this the GATEBTC gateway? Is it actually operational and has volume? We need to get this going asap and get a video of how to use it from btc to bitbtc and bitusd

Yahhman your android wallet is working great on my device. Nice work!
I'd love to see a Mycellium-like Exchange feature where we can post meetup offers to exchange BTS or bitUSD for cash. Bitshares P2P gateway to/from cash in your pocket.  ;)

This would be super sweet.

How far down are the long term plans full decentralized exchange functionality? I guess implementing that won't be so simple, but trading directly on the phone would be pretty neat though.

why should that have a negative effect on the price of BTS in the short term? don't get it, sorry :(

Well it probably won't have since someone who wants to go into bitUSD but can't, can go into bitCNY instead. But if there's no bitassets for sale you'll have to unload BTS for fiat on a centralized exchange, removing money from the system. The actual effect on the price is a bit more complicated than that of course, still having no sell orders at feed price is definitely short term bearish BTS.

I'll finally be leveraging a small amount of my position once 0.5 comes tomorrow. Hopefully can catch this low interest rate.

I've never seen a bitasset having plenty of buyers but no sellers. This is good because it means bitassets are considered a proper store of wealth, but could be bad for the price of BTS in the short term (if it can get any worse :P).

Great time to leverage your exposure to the coming reversal... if you dare ;)

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares fee potential issue? 0.50 vs 0.10 BTS
« on: January 13, 2015, 04:34:53 pm »
The fees are neglible either way. Their purpose is to prevent spam, so as long as we aren't getting spammed fees should be as low as possible. When BitShares has grown to the point where it has a huge userbase of people using the block chain primarily for practical reasons, rather than as investors, then it will make sense to increase fees also for the sake of earning revenue. At this moment fee revenue is nonexistent anyway and value is gained from getting new users to buy into bitassets.

Really like this! Will vote when 0.5 comes out. Are the members of your group behind bts.hk as well?

This is great, we definitely need to support yunbi!

I don't understand the light wallet part... You want to develop a light wallet seperate from the official bitshares light wallet?

What about yunbiCNY asset? That's what our ecosystem really needs to thrive. If we can trade CNY on yunbi directly with bitCNY from the client itself then the peg can start to be enforced very strongly... Maybe the light wallet is meant to be a browser wallet directly on your website? That would be insanely amazing.

That's more than yunbi, bter, and poloniex combined, and 25% of btc38's volume. If you can get your full node to work, then get on it and start trading! Liquidity is what will make or break our DAC.

Stakeholder Proposals / Yunbi delegates

Yunbi just registered 2 100% delegates. I wonder what their proposal will be, maybe our first fiat gateway? :0

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: New Delegates: Zach Lym Trial Week
« on: January 13, 2015, 12:31:51 am »
We had an awesome week, thanks to Zach for coming out. You should be seeing a detailed delegate proposal and .p2p roadmap soon.

I will buy bitUSD until I have 1,551 to cover what I couldn't cover from the remainder of the DNS dev fund, then I will continue running the delegate until I get back the registration fee. At that point I will either take this guy offline or make a new proposal if there is another dev we want for a trial.

Hope he applies for several delegates and becomes a core dev!

Also I like the idea of the dev-trial fund continuing and accumulating funds. The more flexibility for adding talent to the core team, the better.
