Having a payed delegate that donates everything to a well picked charity might be a great demonstration how DPOS is an improvement vs wasting the same money on electricity with POW.

I thinks its better to make profit first, otherwise charity is not sustainable.

well, a single charity delegate wouldn't contribute so much to inflation but could attract some new users that would come because they would be interested to be able to vote directly with their money to fund charities instead of corrupt bankers.
If the net amount of value that comes in due to a charity delegate helping with marketing exceeds the delegate pay, then it's obviously a good idea. Problem is, it's kind of hard to measure the actual influence of this on the influx of new users...
I would even suggest something like the EFF, as they fit quite a bit with the BitShares vision I think, and it would be nice to have a charity somewhat aligned.

doesn't get my vote... we need to spend all funds on growing the value of BTS... a charity is what you fund when you have profits and thus there should be no charity until *AFTER* we have ended the need for dilution and are funded entirely from trx fees.

My point was not to do this exclusively for charity, but as a marketing expense.
From what i have read Sean's outpost got something like 25k$ in total donations at some point earlier that year.
Just imagine, how a payed delegate could double that sum within a few month.
It would say: "look this coin with a significantly smaller marketcap and community was easily able to donate the same sum in way shorter time, because it is drastically cheaper to maintain than bitcoin and thus able to use these funds instead of wasting energy.
In my eyes this would actually be money spend on growing the value of bitshares.

I started lottocharity combination of charity +lottery for the forum users.. never made it to the top 101. (But lots of votes thanks). I stop it after the new delegate structure (as it won't be anything to give to charity or the forum). Now I am thinking what to do next :)
