Technical Support / Bitshares total chain size
« on: May 10, 2016, 09:03:45 pm »
Bitshares 2.0 has been running for a bit over 6 months now. Does anyone info on how the size of the blockchain has grown over time?

Why is the light wallet cooking my Mac CPU? No other browser tab has this much CPU usage.

@pc you make very good points.

From the proposal:

Quote
As a reference, TCNY has been set a 2% force settlement offset, the consequence is that almost no holder wanted to request force settlement even when the price for the collateral was very low.

Is Bitcrab involved in TCNY in any way? Perhaps this experimentation should be on that asset instead.

@bitcrab there's a typo in your opening post that makes the first link invalid due to extra ']' characters.

I think I'd recommend the trollbox default name to be the default account, instead of anonymous. The user can change back to anon using the settings button. It would make the chat feel more like a community.

Also, it says "100 online" but clearly nobody notices any chat. Perhaps the chat tab should lightly pulse a color if there's an unread message.

Or what about a compromise: 0.5% offset? This would be an interesting thing to vote on.

Is it supposed to say "Create Account" in the upper left, even after you're logged in with an account? It would make more sense to me if that was a Dashboard link to https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/dashboard.

It only does this when all your accounts are set to Ignore. I guess it's pretty unimportant, but it would probably make more sense to show the Home link in that case.

Interesting discussion. I can definitely understand the arguments on both sides. I think I would support a change to a 1% offset to the forced settlement price. However, I think the difference should go to the shorter, not the asset creator.

I don't agree with removing forced settlement entirely, as @merivercap proposes.

Random Discussion / Chronos Talks: Personal Finance
« on: April 24, 2016, 09:45:05 pm »
Hi guys,

I've started up a new YouTube channel on the topic of personal finance (and whatever else might come to mind). It seems that society doesn't always do a good job giving people the basics on how to handle finances, although the crypto community in general does a bit better -- after all, crypto is a form of money. Anyway, this video series is a way for me to bring some of my own thoughts to the table.

Here are the first two episodes:

Episode 1: Debt is a Fire
Episode 2: Venn Diagram of Debt

Here's a direct link to the YouTube Channel: Chronos Talks

Enjoy!

General Discussion / Re: Should BTS end merger vesting BTS early?
« on: April 19, 2016, 05:09:11 pm »
Sorry for the simple question, but if nothing is done, when does vesting naturally end? What named accounts are receiving vesting funds, and in what amounts?

I don't think it should end early. To me, that seems like breaking an agreement.

Hey guys,

Denarium just came out with their 1 BTC, 1 ounce silver coin, and I'm pretty impressed with the quality, as far as physical crypto is concerned. IMO, This coin is rivaled by Coinographic's 25 LTC coin, but since Coinographic went down in a flaming pile of scam, this is our next best option.  :P

Here's my video review: https://youtu.be/pZJuqZCvSbY

Check their site at http://denarium.com

Enjoy!

With 2GB RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor you can achieve a 0.3 GH/s hash rating. That means we can steal up to 0.5 bitcoins a day from you!
Fixed that for you.

This would have the same impact as any other solution. Price is a function of supply and demand.

It reminds me of the first minute of this video. Which glass has more juice? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtLEWVu815o

BTS fees can easily be adjusted by the committee, to keep up with changes in underlying value.
