As someone who's been an entrepreneur and self employed nearly all of my professional life, I've always been drawn to starting businesses. As of today, I'll once again be self employed, as I am launching a new marketing company. I'll continue on as brand champion for BitShares and will still be very involved with the BitShares team, but will no longer draw a salary. I believe there will soon be a real need to market and promote new DACs and I want to focus my efforts on doing just that.
One of our core values at BitShares has always been about decentralization. In the next six months I expect the pace of decentralization to increase, even among BitShares as an organization. We will have several businesses spring out of our core team, this one being just one of them. I have put together an incredible team of my own and our primary focus in the next couple months will be in improving and promoting BitSharesX, as well as strategic marketing for several upcoming DACs.
Expect in the near future to see a link for my company on the partners page and feel free to reach out if you're a project lead on a DAC and you'd like to discuss how we can help you with your marketing needs. Thanks BitShares forum, and here's to even greater days ahead for BitShares!
Bigger Than Bitcoin,
Brian

He is moving from employee to independent entrepreneur with the same task but powerful new incentives and capabilities.
get your hands on BTSX now, while it's still cheap. I want the community to benefit from what's to come, since you all built this as much as any of us have.
we have targets for number of downloads, number of funded wallets, total market cap, etc. So please, get your hands on BTSX now, while it's still cheap. I want the community to benefit from what's to come, since you all built this as much as any of us have.

Sounds like an awesome plan guys!
I love that Brian, Toast, DACsunlimited etc. are getting their own ventures up and running. More skin in the game, more responsibility and boundless awesomeness.

Check out the new DAC Sun Limited website. It looks awesome!
Freerider problem / group trap? Just trying to understand the incentive structure....QuoteWe have targets for number of downloads, number of funded wallets, total market cap, etc.Is Brian the only one who is paid when those targets are met?
No
...I have a lot more skin in the game as I'll only be rewarded for my efforts and results now and no longer paid for my time....
Thanks guys. My primary focus will be all about BitSharesX right now as the strategy for upcoming DACs is still being drafted. Riverhead is right, I have a lot more skin in the game as I'll only be rewarded for my efforts and results now and no longer paid for my time.
The marketing campaign we plan to run won't take effect overnight, but when it does, we expect to see significant adoption and inflow of capital to BitSharesX. Does this mean that BTS/I3 are going to be open to funding new and different marketing entities or efforts?
Is there any strategy or breakdown on marketing efforts, results and/or analytics? Any type of github like organization dedicated to the marketing efforts that have been produced so far and what the future goals are?

Anything is possible. The only thing you should conclude right now is that we are implementing a two-pronged marketing plan - one developed by the Chinese community and one developed in St. Martin.
We are very optimistic about each of them separately. Considered together ... kapow!(http://peregrinu.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/bullish.jpg)

Just tell us what B had done during the last 4 months?
he seems didn't make any progress.
Then again maybe Method and Stacey are already part of Brian's team? Has MethodX revealed his identity?
"Next month", "Quarter X 201X", "Can't divulge our plans", "huge marketing push coming soon". The check is always in the mail responses are very alarming. There is a pattern here.
My guess is the Marketing team sucked all the funds they could get away with without producing. I3 has to stand by the erroneous decisions due to the scam landscape in the altcoin hobby. A internal controversy could make or break these things. So, I3 keeps kicking the can hoping Bitshares will catch fire on its own throug no help from the marketing team.
If anyone from Brian's team gets a 100% delegate elected, I will be divesting. I would rather Stacey from MethodX's team be a 100% delegate. Then again maybe Method and Stacey are already part of Brian's team? Has MethodX revealed his identity?

IMHO, I believe that incentives should be shared with the unofficial marketing team and anyone who contributes positively on nullstreet.

All members of this community who I communicate with regularly know who I am. My name is Matt MacPherson. Add me to Facebook, follow me on Twitter... whatever. I am not a member of Brians marketing team. I welcome you to join nullstreet and see first hand the progress being made by community members.

I was being facetious about you being part of Brian's team.
By the way, you are doing good work. You have done more in two-three months than Brian's team has done in over a year. Here he got $100k and BTS and you are getting about $1500/mo in BTS you have to liquidate just to bankroll any marketing, go figure. Keep it up if you can afford to float it! My guess is you will have to put up a chunk of your own money (you might want to check the opportunity cost on that money, buy more bts vs. spending money on marketing) to do any realistic viable advertising. I think there were a couple other delegates wanting to do marketing and sought out advertising only to find it would take months-years to gather enough bts to fund a decent highly viewed ad.

+5% I know I'm getting completely screwed and will allow myself to be exploited temporarily. I'm fully aware of what's going on. I view this as more than just an investment and am genuinely committed to decentralized solutions and the social change it will inevitably bring about. For that, I think it's worth being taken advantage of. Otherwise, no rational person would ever do what I'm doing.

You all have been told the marketing campaign starts when 1.0 is released... Why do you insist on complaining about this? Do you want BM to come on here and tell you for hundredth time what you already know? Is that really going to make you feel better?
well...I hope you all the best
any candidate for this role right now? how about kevin harrington? :P :P
He is moving from employee to independent entrepreneur with the same task but powerful new incentives and capabilities.

It's not Stans job to support you. It's the collective shareholders in general. Make a delegate proposal in the delegate sub, lay out your plan in detail and see if your idea is worth funding. I'm eager to hear what your plan is!

I just come back from Mali and literally at every corner of the street there is a Orange booth, for people to transfer money with their phone. Orange charge about 3% fee for every transfer witch is a lot. Yes the potential is big but there are tons of problems to overcome. Anyway looking forward to see your delegate proposition. What country you have been in Africa ?
I understand M-PESA is very big in some parts of Africa.

M-Pesa is big but the transaction fee are very high for such poor countrys, People are so poor that if they could transfer money without those fee they will do it in a heartbeat. I've been in a few African country and the mobile payment is huge. There is a big market there for sure but it not easy, I guess the best way will be some kind of partnership with a phone company.
