You have nothing to do. If you keep a backup of your existing wallet.

You wont lose your balances. You will need to export your wallet into a special back up. Then after the upgrade you will import that file into the new wallet, and claim your balances. specifically if you are using version 0.9.3 you will need to go to the console
click your account name in the upper right hand corner.
click advanced
click the >_console button
type in
wallet_export_keys default.json
This will generate a file called default.json in the same folder you are running your BitShares client in.
Once you launch the new wallet you will import this file and claim your balances.

The current version I am using is 9.2 , do I go ahead and export keys or do first I need to upgrade to 9.3 ? Thanks everyone !

you will need to upgrade to 0.9.3. Also looks like you will need to use the full path in the export command. Fav wrote up a good little how to at http://blog.smartcoin.pw/2015/09/bitshares-how-to-prepare-your-wallet.html (http://blog.smartcoin.pw/2015/09/bitshares-how-to-prepare-your-wallet.html)

That is a mistake, the wrong file got uploaded (hence a pre-release). I am building a new 0.9.3 release and will post it shortly.

Use http://blog.smartcoin.pw/2015/09/bitshares-how-to-prepare-your-wallet.html this method
also possible to use the application menu directly for export ... on OSX it is at top .. thb idk where it is on newer win version ..
The menu item DOES NOT work, that generates an old-school backup, not something that can be imported into graphene.

Sorry to ask the same question again, but want to make sure I have it right.
I updated from 0.9.2 to 0.9.3c on Mac.
I did File > Export Wallet > saved json file to desktop.
In the console I did: wallet_export_keys <path to the json file I just exported>
I now have the exported json file from File > Export Wallet and another file that is just called "Bitshares"
Which one do I import in Graphene after it launches?
Thanks for the help guys.

Assuming you are running 0.9.3c, both files should be identical, are they not?

They don't, since bm(?) missed including qt wallet change in 0.9.3c. the latter is (console version) the correct one.

Ok .. that explains a lot ... too bad ..
Hope we can have a final 1.0.0 release that fixes all that stuff ..

What if I have my bitshares in poloniex?

What if I have my bitshares in poloniex?
as long as poloniex will upgrade their platform too, you are good ...
to be on the safe side, you should withdraw them to an account only you hold the private keys for
