Title: Utilizing UIA's in the context of Advertising at Freebieservers
Post by: Xypher on May 21, 2015, 06:01:25 am
Hey there guys,

As some of you may know, we are soon to integrate the option to deliver custom video ads and garner opinion polls in real time from our user base. Assuming monthly individual connections in the range of 100,000 and 5 sessions that last  anywhere between 45 mins- 2 hours, we are in a position to garner approximately 500,000 video views and 1 million opinion polls. In addition to on-boarding users via on-site experiences (like we did with mynxt), this gives us the advantage to create an all round experience where advertisers can

1. Display what they do via ads
2. Garner market research via the polls
3. Incentivise signing up towards their platform through on-platform give aways.

Going ahead, in the event that we do attain sufficient scale to become an advertising agency, we have the ability to disperse a part of our income towards game server owners that sign up with us. This enables us to become an agreegrator of free game servers around the world and create an umbrella corp that permits server owners to run their servers in a sustainable fashion. The mode of ad delivery in the current state remains less intrusive and allows users to go about gaming without being disturbed.

Bringing in the element of a Nxt Ms-Currency / Bitshares UIA allows us to do a number of things

1. Incentivize users viewing ads in real time. We could issue tokens that could be redeemed for features within the platform
2. Incentivize server owners that sign up with us in real time
3. Create a marketplace for advertisers to "bid" on ad spots / opinion polls
4. Raise funds for creating the current advertising system by selling these tokens in advance. Redemption of tokens permitting the end user to have a video ad displayed. Hoarders have the benefit of selling them off later to prospective advertisers and  making a slight profit.

I am looking for further means to integrate the offering of these systems into the platform we intend to build in the months to come and am open to suggestions and queries from here. Would love to hear the opinions of the community as we move ahead with this.

P.s - I have posted this in the nxt forum too. I would love to hear what seperates Bitshares UIA from Nxt's Monetary system and know the key differences.

Sounds like a great application for colored coins (on whatever crypto platform)!

With Bitshares you would have additional income from the referral program: The more (active) users you get to download the Bitshares client the more do you get paid. A lot of restructuring that is geared towards businesses that use Bitshares and bring in users is to be announced this summer. I would strongly recommend listening to the hangout with Bytemaster where he explains the referral program: https://beyondbitcoin.org/developer-hangout-with-bytemaster-april-24-2015/
Instead of applying for a delegate positions like it has been in the past you get paid per user you sign up...

Another point might be the growing infrastructure to verify users (if you need to know whether a user that participates in a poll is a unique user etc.). Adam Ernest (look for Hangout with Adam Ernest on beyondbitcoinshow.com) and Moonstone / Bitsaphire (https://youtu.be/-sDU-ooXq-E?t=20m23s) working on id verification.

Moonstone might be interesting to integrate with too (see the video about moonstone above; somewhere in there he also talks about the modular design (freebieservers could be installed as an extension if you have more than UIA) and moonstone will be able to hold bitshares, any bitasset as well as Bitcoin so you can bring bitcoin holders to your platform). The moonstone interview was worth listening to in general...

Just a few thoughts :)

Thanks for the heads up. I've been in touch with Adam for a while and would run through the concept with him later today.
I've also been looking at the referral program, but I'll wait until the big announcements are made before I take a shot at it as product changes could affect business cycles within FS.

I've internally been discussing Moonstone for a fund raiser of sorts for a few projects we have in our pipe-line but its too early to spill the beans on those at the moment.

Currently, my primary concern is to complete the on-platform dev works to deliver these video ads / opinion polls in a reliable fashion.
It would cost us anywhere between 5-7k  and 3 weeks of work to do that.

I don't know much, just stuff from FS :)
