General Discussion / Re: BitNation - Governance 2.0

Related article, interesting: The Fall and Fall of Bitnation

"News today has been covering the mass exodus of the entire Bitnation team. They have written letters criticizing the organization, how it was run, and its ethical foundations. It was the first project which attempted to implement a system of governance using decentralized technologies, and as of now appears to be little more than empty promises and a massive failure. Last I checked, they had raised approximately .4 bitcoin, or around $150. Hardly enough for a nation.

Henry Ford famously said that if he asked people what they wanted they would have asked for a faster horse. Bitnation is, even executed perfectly, nothing more than a faster horse."

I finally got around to looking at their site and have come to the conclusion that their offering is not likely to be user friendly and this will inhibit adoption.

Some basic questions before I pass final judgement:
1) Who hosts the listings, in particular the images.
2) How are listings indexed / sorted / filtered?  Is it a DHT?
3) How do they plan to fund long term growth?
4) How is auction status updated?  Does it support auctions or just craigslist style ads?

Last I heard/tested (2 weeks ago):

1) Each node hosts its own listings/images
 - To sell something you have to run your own node
2) They were trying to figure out how they would implement searching
3) In late August they said they don't have a funding plan but will think of one
4) Auctions are not supported. It's currently more of a store-style listing service

General Discussion / Re: Better than Bitcoin Interview with Bit N Mortar

One thing I don't understand is why is it necessary to tell people Bitcoin is a company (an unprofitable one) not a currency. Firstly, I don't really understand the logic of why it cannot be considered a currency. But secondly if people want to think of Bitcoin as a currency, that's fine, because its not in direct competition with Bitshares. As I am a bit confused, maybe others are, so is it really a key marketing point?

From a BTS/DAC perspective, Bitcoin definitely resembles shares more so than a currency. The shares happen to be in an unprofitable company.

It's a great marketing pitch. When it clicks, there's an "ah-ha!" moment of understanding. Followed by a smug grin.

Sent you a PM, hope we can work something out!
I'm interested in hearing about your delegate experience.

I'd like to help evolve the effectiveness of marketing materials,
and find ways to leverage my skills to help the BTS community.

It's funny how some people seem to think I take some sort of pleasure in this, I don't.

A little bit of tact goes a long way in how our writings are perceived/interpreted.

Here are a couple BitShares Music Logos that I made:

I like your ideas! The arm imagery in particular. I tried to improve on them, but failed.
So I went a slightly different route:

e: It doesn't fit with cass's awesome minimalist work, but it would look awesome on a card or something
