For a fair play we need an official announcement channel where important events could be announced in a reasonable time in advance such:
1. Stopping a market
2. Restarting a market
3. Plans to change rules and effective date of those in advance!
4. New releases
etc.

I don't mind the format of it, anything fine: pinned to a forum topic, twitter, email list, blog etc.

If you all want this market to function the way it's supposed to, someone needs to start creating video tutorials on how to use the BitSharesX app and explaining the basics of trading. I guarantee you there are a bunch of people just like me who have no idea what they're doing so we don't bother using the exchange to its full potential. For example, I would like to know (in plain english) when I should convert to bitUSD, when would be a good time to short a bitAsset, etc. There is so much I would like to know but have no idea where to start learning.

Anyone else feel the same way?

+5% +5%.  I am also one of those on the sidelines because of feeling a lack of full understanding.

I mentioned this about the recent webinar which was pretty in effective in this regard as it focused pretty much on newbies to the crypto space in general.

First priority should be to on-board the  Bitcoin community which is already pretty savvy regarding crypto but lacks the basic understanding to get fully involved with BTSX.......The more involvement in BTSX the greater the market depth, the more stable the platform will be. The Bitshares needs to provide basic instruction about the additional features and capabilities of BTSX vault (wallet) as well as how to take advantage of basic trading scenarios (bitUSD). With all eyes on us right now, this should be done ASAP.

All these coins are going to fail.  Bitshares being involved directly with any other coin besides BTSX and Bitshares ME is not a good idea.  There will be only a handful of coins that retain any meaningful value.   Why dilute the brand at this point just to see something go up and back down.

What I am confused is why Charles said we have "IPO in a Box" and therefore to not pursue Music/DNS aka "low hanging fruit".  Yet he loves the idea of yet another coin.  Charles, any way to clarify for us what you see in creating yet another coin that has same functionality of an existing coin ?

I'm not sure I see the point. Sure, we may get some new fans (Litecoin users), but wouldn't this just make competition for BitsharesX, and give Litecoin users a half stake in that competition for doing absolutely nothing? I don't think it would be fair to snapshot participants, or even people whom have bought since then.

Forking BitsharesX at this point before the user base is mature seems like shooting yourself in the foot, and would reduce liquidity on both centralized exchanges and in the bitasset marketplace.

On top of that, all of the Litecoin users could just dump on the market and it would be a risky investment for anyone that isn't a AGS/Protoshare/Litecoin investor. As it is now with BitsharesX, everyone has invested something to get their stake. Whether it be investing BTC/PTS in AGS, providing CPU processing power for (or investing in) PTS, or purchasing their BTSX on the free market, this all provides incentive for people not to dump BTSX on the market for less than what they put in and upholds the price. If you make a fork and give 50% of the money supply away for free, this incentive would not be as strong for the 50% who got it for free.

BitsharesX is too small right now to try to fork the the community IMO.

Did anyone read this? I feel like I had some good points... Replace Litecoin in the post with Bitcoin... Ripple.. Stellar... I still feel the same way. This is a business and creating competition for BitsharesX and giving a group of people equity for free is not a good idea at this time.

Charles -

If you say you will be leaving crypto, then leave crypto.

We don't need to your wonky, slanted, subversive outsider ideas here.  Get with the objectives or get lost.  Obviously this type of share drop code fork thing will happen.  However, coming from you, it's clear your ego problems are all over this.

For everyone that doesn't remember, we are trying to start a company here.  We need to act accordingly.

Charles is a jaded scientist with no vested interest in our project.  Taking leadership from him would be counter productive.  I advise others to tell him to get lost just as the many projects in recent months have.

Please focus on fixing bugs first, give the system time to mature.

Limiting the downside to 90% will inhibit price discovery and free markets.

I believe Bitshares is supposed to operate as a free market, without any outside interference. This scheme will create a feeling of a Bitshares central bank that is monitoring and controlling the system.

What will help the system grow will be making arbitrage easier. If there is easy creation of arbitrage bots and automated market makers, then this should work.

Many financial brokers offer CFD, cash for difference instruments, which operate exactly like the bitassets, except the brokers act as a market maker in them, and uses underlying financial markets to hedge the instruments. If we make hedging easy, then automated market makers and arbitrage bots should fulfill that role.

Apologize for lack of understanding and knowledge, been casually following this forum, and do hold BTSX.

Against this suggestion.

I agree with this too, but i also understand the anxiety that if we miss the opportunity make people believe that 1 bitusd = 1 usd then it might be lost for ever. Is it worth discussing this proposal as a plan b to be implemented only if near parity is not reached by xx/xx/xxxx or if the bitusd falls below xx usd? Just having it in place and tested, ready to go at a moments notice could help them aline.

General Discussion / Re: How convenient for Ripple....

It is very important that people don't make this an "us vs them"... I have a lot of respect for Ripple's product and they are a valuable resource.

At the end of the day ranking on coin market cap is just a statistic.  The fact that BTSX is in the same league as Ripple when the code is still incredibly buggy and we are patching things on the fly is amazing.

Given the investment and infrastructure behind Ripple I was rather surprised at their small market cap.  I feel that this adjustment is a more fair estimation and by the end of the week we may well be ahead of them again.

I have no issues with calling out something that looks shady.  Think about it like this:

There are many newbies joining the forums everyday...just trying to learn about crypto so they can make informed decisions.  So many of them become victims of pump and dump scams precisely because of manipulation of public perception in similar ways to how this was done.  It sucks to see strategies like these used as it just invites tighter "regulation" of this burgeoning industry as an entire class of raped newbies start crying about the scammers and thieves.  This isn't even mentioning the number of people who leave the crypto ecosystem as a whole screaming "Ponzi!" for all (potential users) to hear.

Don't user's deserve to get multiple potential angles on a story?  Aren't those various angles all valuable to best assess the reality of a situation?  Isn't that assessment necessary to properly invest in ANY market?

So it isnt an "us against them" thing at all.  It is more of a "don't blatantly be a market-manipulating dickhead" thing...you know, kind of why the bitsharesx exchange was built in the first place!

Actually losing a bit of respect for coinmarketcap for actually stamping their approval on the whole drunken orgy.
