We need to figure out a way to provide incentive for shareholders to vote. The biggest issue I see is with 13.06% of the money supply, someone could perform a 51% attack. This is obviously much less ideal than 51% of the money supply. There are a lot of other issues pertaining to voter apathy as well. No offense to those that have tried organizing these things, but I'm not talking about some silly "election week", campaigning, or mumble hangouts. People need incentive to vote or else they never will. We need to figure out a way that shareholders can be paid to vote. IE. a percentage of fees.. a percentage of dilution.. a little extra dilution.. a delegate... somehow, some way... people need incentive to vote. The current system is not working, the delegate with the most votes has 13.06%. How is this OK with everyone??!?

We could automagically set all the unused votes to random delegates (essentially raising the noise floor).
This is essentially what you would get anyway if you artificially motivate people to vote who don't care enough to study their options.
Now we have 100% voter "turnout".  Are we any better off?

 :)
I'd suggest half of unused votes to be assigned to delegates sorted by performance AND 3% max pay.

General Discussion / Re: Block Explorer and Delegates Listing

I enabled Cloudflare protection for the site yesterday but I'm now seeing some issues with the api. It works fine on my home computer but at work and on my phone I'm not getting a response from the API. Anyone else having issues?

Anyone have experience using Cloudflare and hosting an api behind it? I added a page rule but it doesn't appear to be working. Gonna have to contact their support I think.

Yes. I have some issues. It is not opening always for me. It currently works though.

Was anything else changed?
I'm getting the following errors when I try to update my bts name to "emski" :
Code: [Select]
The following errors occurred when trying to save your profile:

The following BBC is not allowed within your signature: code, ftp, img, iurl, php, url.

That is what I did. I think it complaints due to my signature.
I'll let it as is then.
you putted it under delegate field!? Pls jsut put your name without anything more into it ! Link should automatically included!
NO BCC needed…

General Discussion / Re: Save PTS - Increase Default Transaction Fee

Read what I wrote again. That is precisely what I suggested ;)

Right! I should go to sleep now...

I think that discriminates against low stakeholders.

Perhaps the fee should be: 10% of transaction amount, or 10 PTS, whichever is less, with a minimum of 0.1 PTS. It should be possible for miners to implement this logic without a hard fork, yes?

There should definitely be a hard maximum. You cant ask 10% from large transactions. It is insane.
What about 10% up to 10 PTS and no less than 0.1 PTS?

General Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap not updating BTS price
« on: November 13, 2014, 10:59:48 pm »
Well bter didn't notify anyone when they renamed the asset.
See https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=11355.0 .
BTS itself was affected to some extend.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Warning For Delegates Producing Price Feeds

Thanks for the heads up.  Where is your patch?  I don't see it on github.

:) I commited it but I forgot to push it.
It is uploaded now.

Stakeholder Proposals / Warning For Delegates Producing Price Feeds
« on: November 13, 2014, 09:09:04 pm »
BTER changed the asset name for Bitshares. It is now BTS (old BTSX was removed).
I've updated my version of the script: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9698.0 .
I suggest you check if the change concerns you.

EDIT: It is a bit "patchy" but I'll try to make it better when I have enough time

Apparently BTER changed BTSX asset name to BTS.
I've pushed a quick patch to address that.
I'll try to make something more robust soon.

This is definitely a good delegate to place your votes on.

General Discussion / [Proposal] DAC System Account
« on: November 12, 2014, 08:28:33 am »
I suggest a special DAC System Account to be defined.
All registration fees (and possibly trx feex) should go there instead of being burned.
The funds from this account should be used to pay delegates. Dilution should occur only when this account goes to zero.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Re: My preferred solution for delegates
« on: November 12, 2014, 08:21:27 am »

I ranted or "went off half-cocked" the other day.  This was in opposition to the delegate fee being the same as 2 weeks average income.  My thought at the time was that if you had 100% payrate on, then you had to pay the average for 2 weeks 100%.  Is this true or is the fee the same regardless of your payrate?

Before I rant again, I would like to see this clarified.

I think it is just as you said. I think this is a waste. I believe the funds vested by the delegate initial registration should be stored instead of burned and these funds should be used to reward delegates.

Technical Support / Re: Is it the forum or me?
« on: November 12, 2014, 08:19:12 am »
I'd like to be able to use the forum's editor as it provides some additional buttons and formatting unavailable elsewhere.
Forum reliability is a very good thing. Is there a budget for the support ?
