There was a thread that started with "The most important thing Bitshares...." has been deleted because it possessed posts that questioned CNX's ability to stay true to Bitshares. I only know this because my last post was a response to a well written post by Empirical1.2. I couldn't find my post or his and decided to search my history where I found the link to the thread here https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,17994.0.html
And it has been completely removed.
Hrm......
Are we already being controlled by the new central authority CNX? Or was this a lowly mod, jealous of all the power theymos and Co. have at BTCtalk and /r/bitcoin and wanted some satisfaction too?
-
I'd like to catch on this thread too, as it looked interesting but I only had time to skim some of the posts. Can someone please re-instate & perhaps explain why is was deleted? Thx

unfortunately, deleted threads don't pop up in the moderations log.
-
As this topic is on the Meta board, could someone please explain in general exactly who has the ability to delete whole threads (moderators + thread originator)? and perhaps from a moderator's point of view why this would be done in practice - i.e. a whole thread and not, for example, a particular piece of offensive content?
As the OP says, regardless of actual intent, this could be perceived as censorship and surely ought to be a last resort on an open forum.

General is moderated by global mods and admins, there's no board mod. so either one of us deleted the thread by mistake I guess, or we should ask OP if he/she did something. who was the OP?
-
dunno - any idea @newmine/anyone else?
-
, or we should ask OP if he/she did something. who was the OP?
If I recall correctly bitcoinjesus2.0 may have been OP. ??
-
Afaik .. ops cannot remove threads if there are replies ..
-
I certainly didn't do it.
-
I didn't do it.
@newmine can you create this thread again and we will continue discussion?

Same ID, 17944; looks like he was OP and deleted it?

On a separate note, it's probably a good idea for the community to audit all of the mods/admins of the forum, because I doubt anyone has reviewed them in a long time.
Here all all the admins:
bitsapphire
BitSharesDevelopment
boshen1011
bytemaster
cass
cn-members
itnom
logxing
metalallen
testz
toast
vikram
[ -_-.] sysadmin
And here are all the global mods:
cn-members
DACSunlimited
dannotestein
fav
HackFisher
James
Stan
testz
WildWex

If memory serves correctly, this is ^^^^^
just to be clear... I'm not accusing them for deleting the thread.

oh admins got an advanced log, that's nice. I think an admin should post a weekly screenshot of this log, for transparency's sake

It seems that Bitcoinjesus2.0 deleted the thread, so apparently we are being censored by BJ2.
-
I didn't do it.
@newmine can you create this thread again and we will continue discussion?
I didn't create the original thread. I just responded to Empirical1.2's comment. When I came here to find the thread and see what comments took place next, my comment was gone from my history. I searched for Empiricals comment and gone too.
I just thought it would be funny if "if" someone was deleting threads and posts while all the theymos accusation of censorship are going on in the BTC community over XT.

<redacted>
lel I'm censoring myself since i just saw that we're not talking about the same thing.
-
...so BJ2.0 makes a thread, deletes it, and newmine can't help but exclaim censorship and conspiracy.
Just another day on bitsharestalk. :D
-
<censored> - wonder if that's an abbreviation that'll stick..

Why would BItcoinJesus2.0 delete any thread at all? Unless to censor something someone else said in his thread, right? If he didn't like anything he personally said, he could simply erase what he wrote. Instead he deleted everyone's comments. Seemed odd, especially in reference to what was going on at /r/bitcoin.
So yeah. I can't help exclaim censorship, because it was exactly that. BJ2.0 censored everyone's thoughts from that thread for no reason at all.
Here is what my comment was near verbatim:
Careful what you say here.
Everyone else needs to read this very carefully.
I have been posting a lot less. Would you like me to exclaim more frequently? Because your dumb fucking comments make me want to.
-
Hmm, sounds like we need some sort of technology for this forum where an immutable and transparent record is held, maybe something where everyone could hold their own copy..
-
We should just disable the self-moderation rules
-
The OP should only be able to delete a thread if it had no replies. Precisely to avoid this kind of situation.

That usually ends with someone drawing a dick on your face in permanent marker. </bada bing>

What is the smoking gun that CNX cant stay true to BitShares?

Maybe BitcoinGod told him too.

not really. if you feel a thread should be deleted you can report and request it.

Not sure I get your reasoning because only you and a few others would stoop to those tactics. After all, you are the first to think of it publicly.

I am liking you more and more these days. Even though you get trigger happy moving threads from the "general discussion", it usually seems justified in context with the sub boards. I feel a lot of stuff you and Vikram move could be quite alright staying in GD as it is the most frequented sub. But you have proved to be quite consistent. Good job!

At this point I'm pretty sure no one got the joke. ;) (Hint: It's a reference to turning off your self-moderation rules and getting drunk and passing out ... like in college ... then someone draws a ... oh never mind).
