Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Draft][Worker Proposal] Global Marketing Board
« on: September 11, 2019, 05:57:35 pm »
FWIW there were some feedback in the Chinese thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=29600.0

I was hoping wonder88 would response to me in here, but instead he chooses to add the same in the Chinese post. I do not speak Chinese, and I do not trust automated translation services enough to do a good job for a back and forth conversation.

wonder88, I would very much like to discuss and iterate on all your concerns.

General Discussion / [BBF] Obtaining necessary BitAssets for Worker payouts
« on: September 10, 2019, 01:39:00 pm »
Dear BitShares Community,

the BitShares Blockchain Foundation is always looking to obtain
bitCNY, bitUSD and bitEUR at reasonable rates for worker payouts. As a part of the larger
BitShares community considers obtaining those BitAssets in the decentralized markets
disruptive, we are now looking for other ways to obtain them and bridge the gap
between operational needs and the desire to sustain a certain price level and
liquidity in the BitShares DEX.

Hence, we offer peer-to-peer sales of BTS for bitCNY as a one time
trial. This is a step towards the community's concerns to reduce sell
pressure on the BitShares DEX. In the case that this is successful today
we will be exploring possibilities for more extensive use.

The requirements for participation in such a trade are:
 * Minimum batch size of 100,000 bitCNY
 * Up to 600,000 bitCNY
 * Sale/Trade at market price
 * Trades will be executed as a "barter proposal" on the BitShares
blockchain (risk free for both parties)
 * The offer is limited until Sept. 11th 23:59:59 UTC

To get in contact, please send an email to `info@bitshares.foundation`.

This message was redirected by me to the forums on behalf of the BitShares Blockchain Foundation. I personally do not speak for the BBF.

Chinese version now completed
https://www.bitshares.foundation/workers/2019-09-global-marketing-board-cn

I believe "Global Marketing Board" as term should be replaced with "Global Management Board".

Global Management Board will submit workers for (Infrastructure, marketing etc...) that would be specific and in details when it comes to for example "Annual Marketing Plan" which will have a marketing plan and it's down budget.

"Global Management Board" budget must be segregated from "Annual Marketing Plan" budget.

"Global Management Board" must be OpEx.
"Annual Marketing Plan" must be CapEx and budget should consider the BTS value.

As for the budget, BTS holders have full control how much they want to create. Otherwise the ideas align.

Please move your envisioned management board advances to a new thread if you want to pursue it, I would consider this here as part of it for marketing focus.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Draft][Worker Proposal] Global Marketing Board
« on: September 06, 2019, 07:50:34 pm »
Hello there wonder88,

my apologies for not giving more detailed updates here in the forum on the preceding marketing worker. We gave you comments to them in https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=27747.msg335192#msg335192.

Concerning this new worker proposal there is one comment / question fitting:
If you are the manager of any marketing or pr team, please tell me the truth whether this "marketing" achievement is good or not. Thanks.

Looking from the outside, I agree the marketing achievement of the previous worker seems insufficient (addressed in the post mentioned in the beginning of this text). I never claimed to be a marketing expert, I wrote the previous worker simply because no one else was doing any kind of advancement in the marketing front and I saw the need. I did several attempts to invite others to join the previous marketing worker, but there was either no interest, or lack of BitShares knowledge to conduct the task at hand. The intent of the previous marketing worker was also inclusive, inviting the community for collaboration. The new one takes it even a step further: We introduce a globally distributed marketing board as the decision makers and increase the budget, which now also allows to invite professional marketing companies for collaboration.

In that sense, the new worker is exactly addressing your concern. Expand and enhance the marketing team and put the budget at the complete mercy of the voters. It is not the intention that the marketing boards are exclusively the ones to execute marketing efforts.

To elaborate more on that, the intention is to provide a frame that will allow other marketing & PR experts (which are likely not so familiar or interested in the governance and politics necessary for a worker proposal) to have an easier way to get funding for their ideas, while the board can serve as the go to point of contact to address all questions and needs of said expert. After all, marketing experts are normally no experts on the topic / product that they are marketing, but they need to be able to ask the right questions and get spot-on answers.

really? how to write the general guideline of marketing if the people/entity even could not delivery those small "marketing" goals?

This was also in reference to the previous marketing worker, but concerns more this one. I am no marketing expert myself, but I believe I know where to go and what to ask to be able to write acceptable guidelines for it. Please note that this worker proposal is a draft and I am now publicly asking for feedback to refine the text.

Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

P.S. I saw that you were involved with, or at least reposted the interview that was conducted with Ryan. If so, and you have background in that area that we are not aware of, are you interested in contributing to marketing efforts?

Here are questions regarding this worker from another thread (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=29599.0).

where are the interviews & articles? "The wikipedia article of the BitShares Blockchain https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=BitShares&redirect=no currently links to the personal website of Daniel Larimer. This needs to be reworked and filled with proper content." PLEASE CHECK IT, IT STILL LINKS TO DANIEL LARIMER! LOL....THANKS.

Articles reviewed / created through the old marketing worker can be found here: https://github.com/bitshares/marketing/tree/master/publications.

The wikipedia article is quite tedious. There have been 3 attempts to get an article up (even before the worker, OpenLedger put efforts there), unfortunately all have been rejected. It is rather difficult to find an author to do a complete revamp of the content, I had one that canceled due to the scope, and two others interested that I had to reject due to lack of BitShares knowledge. Ultimately I will start drafting it myself, but I wanted to avoid that.

There is another worker seeking to publish four articles from professional content writers, so I saw no reason to enforce publication of another article. Just two weeks ago there was a interesting topic being raised, with a promising lead on an author that would be a good match for this worker. An article on #defi (Decentralized Finance). Ongoing effort. I understand it feels slow and I could be more efficient.

Also where is the 8btc.com interview link?

The first interview was with Gokhshtein (published here https://github.com/bitshares/marketing/tree/master/publications), the featured version of it has been used at several conferences as printed handouts already. Shortly afterwards, interviews were conducted by other parties with Ryan (core team) and Magnus (UI team). I was not able to find a willing or suitable party to conduct another interview for 8btc since then, but I have to admit I have not looked actively in the last 6 weeks. So the 8btc interview is not done, but will be done if an opportunity arises.

Please read the introduction of previous proposal "Marketing: Interviews, articles and visibility". If they do not have time/ability to delivery their "marketing" words on time, then find someone do it, please. DO NO WASTE ANY marketing fund again! The greatest talkers are always least doers. How can community trust those people/entities will delivery this proposal this time?

The proposal is explicitly inclusive towards the Community, the intention was never to do everything ourselves. This worker is also not done delivering.

Let me help you to read their bill/invoices carefully first. We had paid "3 Video Clips & Gokhshtein" for 59.22243k CNY. Have you heard any info about those videos or gokhshtein in our channels or social accounts?

The Gokhshtein interview was published in March, was advertised back then and has been used at several conferences already as a printout. It is a quite general introduction to BitShares and can easily be re-published and re-used for the next marketing push. The 3 Video clips that you mentioned are not published yet. The shooting is completed and we have a raw version of them. Our intention is to release them in anticipation of Decentralized conference with a social media campaign.

how about other goals from proposal? So that's call "We aim to change that by doing baby steps and are asking for funding to conduct interviews, craft articles and increase the general visibility and awareness of the BitShares Blockchain by fixing misinformation and deadlinks in common crypto-overview websites and centralized exchanges. (quote from proposal)", right?

The Visibility efforts are consolidated now in the marketing repository: https://github.com/bitshares/marketing/issues. Some could already be closed (Huobi for example), it takes surprisingly long time to iterate with CEXes and other informational websites to get content corrected. So this is also ongoing. Please note that nothing has been billed here so far.

If you are the manager of any marketing or pr team, please tell me the truth whether this "marketing" achievement is good or not. Thanks.

Can certainly be better. Would you be interested in joining any of those efforts? Also, please let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

@Customminer

I'm sorry i can't get any useful information from your answer.

Every bts is free, no one force them.

Reserve pool funds shouldn't exsit for the program which have run for almost 6 years, the program should use its own income to feed the witness and worker, especially core and UI worker.

BTS has its own income, it's a DEX, this is its advantage, i don't want anyone forget it, not only focus the reserve pool.

I can agree with that sentiment. I would have suggested a transition phase though where fee schedule and other things can be adjusted for that.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker] Bitshares UI Worker Proposal for 2019
« on: September 05, 2019, 12:22:56 pm »
Dear BitShares community,

currently the BTS holders came to consensus for reducing spending in expectations for reducing BTS sell pressure.
Several workers are cut off mid progress, and for some hefty prepayments have already been made. The BitShares UI worker has been voted in and out for a while now, and with recent vote changes has been rendered completely inactive by this expectation. The budget was always tight and the worker is now out of funds.

As a consequence, the efforts being made for this worker by the BitShares UI team are halted, effective immediately. The upcoming release is put on hold as it cannot be finalized. We regret this step, yet it is a most unfortunately a necessary measure since we can't uphold the required integration testing and subsequent bugfixes.
Publishing the release without it, is out of the question as it does't not fit our quality assurance desires.

The upcoming release contains many improvements, new features and bugfixes. Here is a short overview:

 - Prediction Markets: Tailored user interface for prediction market assets that guide the user and show the underlying mechanisms that are not obvious for the everyday trader
 - Revamped Wallet Merchant Protocol: Tailored user interface that allows the creation and processing of payment requests (e.g. invoices) via the blockchain
 - Open orders allow grouping per market and also include force settlements
 - Various improvements in the usability of Bartering and HTLCs overview
 - User can specify an arbitrary asset that is then used to pay transaction fees, and also gets notified if not enough funds are available in fee pool or user balance
 - Usability of Asset overview page is improved
 - Final preparations for inclusions of Beet for "offline" signing
 - Bugfixes to the Deposit and Withdraw modal to ensure all gateways work seamlessly
 - Resorting, removal and addition of nodes to enhance connectivity
 - Reworked referral statistics to show a holistic overview for LTMs
 - and many more ... a full list of included issues can be https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-ui/projects/17.

If you like what we are doing and want our quality development to continue, please voice yourself in the comments, and consider the BitShares UI worker in your next voting update:

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker] Bitshares UI Worker Proposal for 2019
« on: September 05, 2019, 09:08:27 am »
Do you know if the UI team plan to stick around whilst funding is stopped? I am worried that we will loose these talented devs.

At least one is in it as a source of income, so I expect that he won't stick around long. I also have to shift my focus to other projects now. We (BCP) have decided, very much intentionally, to not be operational on BitShares (in order to avoid creating another conflict of interest). This is biting us in the ass now, since there is no revenue stream to keep my UI contributions afloat.
