It is not more usually the log scaled ones that work better? .. jump to the next order of magnitude.

Releasing the trading platform in the next week or so would help a great deal.

Anyone interested in modding /r/BitSharesMarkets (http://www.reddit.com/r/bitsharesmarkets/) with me?

hu .. didn't even know that one .. subscribing ..
As I made the style for r/bitshares we can at least make it look equal quickly :-)

If all the traders are watching the same graph expecting the same bounce at the same time and they start buying in to beat the bounce then that'll cause the bounce and they'll all feel more assured in their analysis technique :).

Cass and gang are building a proper trading platform with charting, indicators, etc.
There are few posts here and there (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8390.msg110154#msg110154 (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8390.msg110154#msg110154)) but no official announcement.

There was a non-public official announcment (sort of) during a dev hangout where Brian (mktDirector) showed up and presented his ideas .. he mentioned that a new 'trading' software is in development .. not just a 'wallet' :-)

OP's image is hardly TA.
If anything all the indicators are pointing down, though for a nascent market as this and in rapid development phase TA is not much useful.

Good technical traders always watch the news also. The best charts in the world aren't much help if events drive the price, so you factor these out. You must be willing to sit on the sidelines sometimes. I think a lot of folks are doing that right now.
Bitcoin's price has been correlated with gold a lot lately. Not always, but quite frequently, if you watch the two. And it's pretty well known that gold often trades inversely to the U.S. dollar. Gold has stayed low the last few months partly because of the dollar's strength. There are rumors of a rate hike in the U.S., where the stock market is finally taking a breather after quite a good run on positive economic indicators. And with the other things that are happening, the U.S. is a safer place for money at the moment.
All I know is that this next week will be a bit weird. I'm guessing there probably won't be a lot of volume coming into cryptos, aside from the bots. We have the Scotland vote coming up in a week, uncertainty in the Ukraine, and a U.S. military campaign ramping up against ISIS in Syria. There's nothing freakish yet and the markets have largely priced in these risks. If things get worse on any front, you might see gold and Bitcoin go up a bit. But I think everyone's playing it cool and probably not prone to taking a lot of risks as they see how these things unfold.
At some point soon, BitShares is going to be bringing people into cryptos. It's bucked the Bitcoin price trend before. But without other drivers in the short term, the times BTSX really rallies seem to be when Bitcoin also is going up and more money is coming into crypto.
I predict a fairly flat week or a little down. Now watch my forecast for this week be utterly and completely wrong!

Well, that's it gentlemen, after 3.5 weeks of slowly buying I'm finally all in. Bought my last BTSX today and saved 20 BTC for PTS. I'm sure BTC will now rally and BTSX will plummet. Such is life. :o

I'd appreciate any guidance on how much to invest in PTS (especially as someone who came too late for AGS). I'm currently at 1:8 PTS:BTSX.

sorry now link corrected. agree fidor should be contacted wrt bitEUR. both fidor and city national bank are working with RippleLabs

lets first start the bitEUR and get it liquid .. say a few 100kEUR or so .. before that it does not make any sense to market it towards a bank :-)

I don't know how anyone else reads this but they way I read this is that Ripple Labs, Fidor & City National are each giving presentations during that session. I'm not sure if it indicates that they are working together but that would be good to know. Still interesting that Ripple is getting a seat at the table.

this document says
Global Strategy Session – New Solutions – Eliminating Friction from Cross- Border Payments
International payments represent a significant business opportunity, but these payments can be difficult to manage. Challenges still exist regarding transparency, time required for funds to clear, tracking payment progress, foreign exchange, etc. Are there innovative solutions to ease the pain? This session will feature executives from Fidor Bank and City National Bank, who will share their thoughts on innovation in this space – and their recent announcements to partner with Ripple Labs. Ripple is an open, decentralized payments protocol that enables anything of value to be traded through a global web. How and why will they use Ripple for cross-border? Session includes discussion of drivers such as real-time.
Funny enough, the follow-up session is called "Federal Reserve Payments Roadmap" by Chicago FED

I wish you all the worse luck, since I sold a bit :P
I was all out of BTCs a long back (I am a puny fish), so increasing through trading is the only option.

What we need is some more good news to bump up the price.

What are your thoughts on the current TA?
What we need is some more good news to bump up the price.
Yup. No idea where that good news is going to come from though.PEG doubts popped the bubble. Realization that the PEG works after all put us on the current uptrend. BitYield gave us a boost. It will probably have to be news from outside the BitShares organization.

Well someone said they are holding off on the marketing push until the full product is ready. They are also making substantial improvements to the GUI. So I think those are 2 things from within to look forward to.

Much better to have a slow and steady price rise then big pump and dumps, it means we are not in a bubble and more people will be paying attention. Staying between 0.00007000BTC and 0.00008000 BTC for a while it is good, the trading volumes are consistently high witch means new money are coming in. The wallet is getting better with every release. We are still in the early adopter stage, the marketing campaign did't even started yet.

The slide has accelerated somewhat. It may be a bear trap after all.

I wonder if that same person is now selling small amounts of btsx at lower and lower prices to drive the perceived market value down?

Yeah. I'm not worried about this. It'll just allow me to buy more BTSX at a lower price.

Someone has a hate for altcoins :) If there were no altcoins there would be no bitshares.

without trading no BTSX
- so in my opinion we need more trading :D

Sorry, I exited my position today. Either going to do the smb training program or pay off my truck and buy a ring for the girl. My dump was only 11.8ish btc. That isn't what caused this downslide but it did contribute :(

It's always fun to speculate. But maybe we should keep these threads to the "Economics" or "Trading Discussion" section, so we don't start overrunning the main board.

Price seems to be responding more to news, or lack thereof, than technicals.
The interesting thing is the volume and consolidation.
Next round of announcements could be interesting.

If I had a larimer for every time I've seen that ridiculous chart...this is the same chart thrown at Bitcoin every time the price rises or falls. In that case, I'd say we're doing pretty damn good...
Also, your posts here in general are always anti-bitshares/pro-nxt with little room for open discussion. Try to be the least bit open minded/unbiased.

Considering how long the market has been live I would suggest the price movements of BTSX to date are just noise in the stealth phase.
Those charts typically span years rather than weeks.
But then again, maybe a flood of Bitcoin FOMO wealth kicks off the exponential phase and it just keeps going....

Those bubbles take years to come to fruition, human phsycology will never change regardless of how fast we seem to be moving, its almost like the theory of relativity, the laws governing bubbles remains the same regardless of speed :)
Humans need to percieve what is going on and it takes time for that, and the herd comes in when all else fails so as someone else elluded to we are in the stealth phase, of the bubble yet to even lift 1CM off the chart that you show. If this is true we can extrapolate somewhere above $1-$10 based on your chart as where the peak would be. Thanks for the uplifting post!

The timeframes often seem more compressed with cryptos, though. We've seen the birth and death of coins within weeks or months. And some have commented that the technological & commercial growth around cryptos is parallel to the Internet's early growth but much, much faster. Some other P2P industries have developed extremely quickly also, since they have less baggage. But perhaps with a deep, serious business model like BitShares, it will follow a longer cycle. We're in uncharted waters here; time will tell.
-
Just like I said human behaviour doesn't change... the compression you think about isn't compression of time its because we are early adopters and because of this comes lack of liquidity which exasperates market moves.
Most people can now attest to the fact that almost ALL alts are shitcoin scams which are meant to be a way to get back to the original token (BTC) which itself is a token back to fiat until we have an ecosystem which proves can survive on its own (aslong as transactions are increasing)..
The one's that arent scams will come around... and they have their own charts... we can't compare charts with something that already exists because there is nothing to compare to before crypto that matches. However the long term charts once full mainstream (if it happens) when the volatility issues go away could be similar to the one posted.
