My guess, and it's just that, is this is Bitshares 2.1 or 3.0 or something in the same convention as Mavericks -> Yosemite -> El Capitan.

You can have a liquidity settlement that doesn't happen every block and requires 2/3 of witnesses to confirm the price at that time.

True. That confirmation can be scripted to confirm the price given a set of parameters that each witness could set - like they do with the price feeds. Though then we're just back to market making bots.

Fav?

Fav has indeed been a strong supporter of the project from the start and a valuable member of the community. What do you feel he would add to the above pool that is not already represented?

There's more to a market maker than listing an asset for sale. The work comes in determining the price to list it for on the DEX. The USD/BTS ratio is a moving target and therefore the orders constantly need to be canceled and recreated. Someone needs manage the tolerance to market fluctuations and the interval to which this affects orders. IMHO that's a lot to ask of a blockchain with 3 second blocks.

Technical Support / My Committe Slate

As Cryptonomex matures and gains traction as a world class Blockchain consulting firm Bitshares will need to focus more on the committee to sustain itself. To that end I have been thinking about who I would want to have a hand on the helm. This is not a popularity contest or a measure of one's worth in the community. It's purely as a shareholder wanting the best for my investment.

1) BM - While he has publicly stated he has not interest in this position I feel he needs to take a seat at this table for a while longer.

2) Carpet Ride - Well seasoned in the real world of the investment business, long term Bitshares silent supporter.

3) Toast - Though moved on to other projects a committee member is not a paid or full time position. His crypto/economic domain knowledge and no BS approach would be an island of clarity.

4) btswildpig - A long term supporter of BTS and a fantastic representative for the Chinese community.

5) alt - Strong technical understanding of Bitshares and, as far as I know, in good standing with the Chinese community.

6) Method-x - A proven track record of knowing what succeeds in the marketplace.

7) This list will change over time.

Like I said at the start this is not a popularity contest nor is this an exhaustive list of my dream slate. These are the people I'd want to have sitting around the table, engaging the community, making decisions, and ensuring the stable future of the project.

I'm cool with it except for tx fees.

How do you plan to keep Lt relevant? How do you fund worker pool? How do you make this interesting for marketers?

This is why we also need Fav, or another of like mind, as a committee member.

I'll make a separate post with my ideal committee slate.

...crypto exchanges where people are assumed to know what they are doing.  Heh.

Have you seen the price of BTS??

Anyway, I agree with the gist of what Cob and Stan are saying. The users will just see USD - the same ChaseUSD they see on their ATM receipts.

General Discussion / Re: There's someone building another wallet
« on: October 24, 2015, 04:19:47 am »

I suspect we'll see some wallets that look nothing like wallets - as BM alluded to with his sports betting reference. With an immutable ledger and user issued assets a wallet is only the most basic front end you could put on it.

Glad to see these starting to come out. You have my vote.

Cashback balances are vesting objects. Check the balances like you do your witness vesting balances.

ElMato Updated
Blockchain replayed automatically because of db upgrade.
Done reindexing, elapsed time: 37.57736299999999829 sec

That kills my 57.7 second reindex :P.

Anyway, riverhead updated to latest commit.

riverhead is updated to v2.15.294. While not officially in the running I don't see any reason to turn it off.

What's with the beards?! Is there some kind of psychological connect that draws the beard crowd to bitshares? :)

I actually just shaved mine off :).
