This is a terrible idea. Exchanges didn't expend any capital to acquire that voting stake, so if they so chose, they can attack the network with zero cost using their stake to vote.
This!beginning to wonder if you are paid to inject toxic fumes in conversations by competitors because if i were a competitor youd be my favorite person on these forums.
I wonder this about half the posters on this forum.
I am truly embarrassed. It is like they have no idea about supply and demand, or how big of a role public perception plays into that. All of these long time "supporters" attacking every move, decision, and statement CNX makes and they don't seem to realize that this will have a negative effect on the price. They complain about everything injecting negativity into every conversation, then in turn complain about the price falling without realizing that they are playing a large role in the price falling. Bitshares has a huge PR problem in the crypto community.. I frequent Bitcointalk and it is apparent. To make things even worse, Bitshares has a huge PR problem within its own community with these forums being a never-ending horror show. Something has to give.. either the price, or the horror show. We need to come together as a community, or abandon the project and dump our coins.
All I can say is that I'm happy 3/4 of my Bitshares are in bitBTC, bitGOLD, and bitSILVER... call me a bear, but there is so much negative energy around here that I am not sure I can stand to support this train wreck much longer.
I don't claim to know the best way for you, or anyone, to spend their time; However I for one would be perfectly fine with "about $30K per month to have Val, Ben, James, and I working on the DEX 75% of the time." One way or another, development needs to continue on a multitude of fronts.
I have a hard time imagining how funding the very people who conceived, architected, and developed BitShares (this still not fully explored or understood powerhouse of a blockchain) could be anything but beneficial.
Knowing this crowd, I will be preemptive here and also say I would support a complimentary worker proposal that saw you mentoring other talented developers to help cultivate a plurality of skilled devs within the bts ecosystem.

To turn my broken record player back on: This isn't a short game. It's not Stealth or nothing or MAS or nothing. It's a linear implementation of features. Until another software house gets up to speed on Graphene we'll just have to live with a serialized development path. This isn't ideal but it's not devastating. People have been saying since the start that we need feature x, y, or z next week or we'll lose first mover advantage. In my humble opinion as long as development keeps moving forward we'll eventually get everything we want. I don't see any "or" options here just "which order".
No one wants another software house to step up more than CNX. There is a lot of work they could be doing for a lot more money but, and again this is my uninformed opinion, they are held back by their desire to see BTS succeed and the lack of anyone else willing and/or able to work on the protocol.
their logic goes like this.... if I build a better looking house on your land I can claim the land as mine. After all they claimed a whole continent as 'theirs' following this tactic, what are a feature or two on BTS.
CLI users are (and always will be) a very small fraction of Bitshares' user base. Sorry, but you are not that important. It is more important that the masses be able to use said feature than you get "robbed" of it. Anyways, the appreciation of the value of the BTS token, if we are able to further adoption, will in effect remedy the "profit" you could of made from Stealth transfers (or any feature for that matter.) Adoption has always been the end game goal for Bitshares- if it is widely adopted everyone wins, regardless of who owns X, Y or Z feature. Making Stealth transfers available to the masses rather than just CLI users is a good step in that direction. It will take many more steps, but every step is worth taking.
You guys should of realized early on that Bytemaster will heavily influence the direction the Bitshares project will take. If you don't like that, then please just sell your stake and go somewhere else because your negativity is toxic to the community.
